Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Master Quest Walkthrough By: Nick Emmerich a.k.a. Seorin (seorin@wi.rr.com) Last Updated: 03/10/03 Version: 2.1 --Disclaimer-- This walkthrough legally belongs to me. Failure to comply with any of the above will result in a lawsuit. --Why this walkthrough?-- The most important question most readers are asking right now is, "why should I use this walkthrough instead of another one?" There are several reasons, certainly, but not all of them will apply to everybody. In the end it's just a matter of preference. What I'm saying is if you don't like this walkthrough for whatever reason then don't use it! If you want to know what reasons there are to use it, though, I've listed a few good ones (and maybe one or two nonsensical ones). 1: Maybe you've read my previous walkthrough and you really liked it. If you just happen to like the way I write or the quality of my information that's probably the best reason to use this walkthrough. 2: I cheat. Well, I really don't consider it cheating, but a lot of others would (a lot of other walkthrough writers included). I'll tell you the best way to get something or do something regardless of how many people think the game designers intended for you to do it otherwise. I could go on at length about why, but that's for the section where I warn stupid people to not e-mail me. I can get 35 out of the 36 heart pieces before doing the fire temple. 28 of them are before the forest temple. 3: I section off my walkthroughs in a very important way. I'll start with a FAQ for the people who just want one question answered with as little chance of unintentionally viewing other spoilers as possible. Then I'll move to a checklist, which is for people who have either played through already or want to figure things out for themselves. The checklist doesn't have answers, just hints. It also is great so you know what you can get and when. It's not always apparent that you can get Biggoron's Sword before the Forest Temple or 6 hearts (actually more, but 6 easily) before Dodongo's Cavern. Lastly I resort to a step-by-step walkthrough that tells you quite plainly where to go, when, how, what to do there, etc. That part is as detailed as it can possibly be. Sometimes, for some people, it still won't be enough, but I've found that I write descriptively enough for 99% of the people out there. 4: I understand the need to use your browser's search function. I try my best to maintain a consistent manner of naming and to always name things appropriately. Some things (like "great fairies") just don't deserve an appropriate name, but usually you can search for other things (like "upgrade" or "Din's Fire"). I'll even list common searches so you can be sure to find the information you need as quickly as possible while viewing as little other information as possible. That's important in a walkthrough. 5: I don't section my walkthrough off in stupid ways. No offense to most other walkthrough writers out there (as the majority of them are guilty of this), but sometimes there are just really nonsensical sections. Why do I need to have the button configuration explained to me? Why are there separate checklists for heart pieces, gold skulltulas, weapon upgrades, etc. instead of one comprehensive checklist? It doesn't make sense to me. You won't need to jump around to 20 different locations in this walkthrough to find everything. Once you've found what you're looking for it's likely everything will be clearly laid out all on one page (or several pages in close proximity if you're looking for a lot of information). I never liked needing to have the same walkthrough open in 7 different windows at 7 different places in the thing just to figure out one piece of information. 6: I'm not stupid. Whether or not that sounds pompous it's true. I wouldn't say something like that in my daily life, but compared to many other walkthrough writers it really needs to be stated. The information I provide is correct: I personally verify ALL of it. If you've been viewing GameFAQs for any length of time there's a good chance you've opened a walkthrough and said to yourself, "…this guy is really stupid." I'd like to let it be known that so far there are no stupid Master Quest walkthroughs… as I write this there is only one other and it is reasonably intelligent. Eventually, however, with the extreme content submitted to GameFAQs, I'm sure a stupid one will make it through. 7: When abbreviated, the title of my walkthrough is LoZ:OoTMQW – a completely nonsensical word! :) --Don't E-mail Me If You Are Stupid-- I really mean that. If you lack intelligence to a great degree, please leave me alone. If you have content to add to my walkthrough, feedback to provide, questions I've asked that you want to answer, or questions you have that are NOT answered in the walkthrough I seriously do not mind being e-mailed. I might even like it! I am greatly annoyed when I get e-mails about questions that are answered in the walkthrough itself. I'm also annoyed by people who feel it's not necessary to even attempt proper punctuation or spelling (i.e. plz hlp me im stuck in teh fire cave i dont now how to get the chest k thx plz email soon). Don't e-mail me with a very specific question about a dungeon (i.e. how do you get the gold skulltula in the bottom room in the Deku Tree) unless you can perfectly describe it to me so that I know what the hell you're talking about. Don't expect an answer anyway because I don't remember every inch of every dungeon. My most intimate knowledge of this game is written down and you are in the process of reading it. Unless you want me to clarify something I've already written it's likely I don't know the answer to your question or just plain can't remember. I won't be playing this game every single day for the next year so there's a good chance I won't remember where the seventh gold skulltula is if you ask me a month from now (heck… I don't know now without looking it up… and what do you mean by the seventh?!). Some people find it necessary to write me hate mail. If that's your thing, go ahead, it won't bother me :) Sometimes I outright enjoy it! Don't hate mail me if you don't mean it, though… it's not as fun when you aren't truly pissed off about something so stupid. Things you SHOULD e-mail me about: If you have something to add, go ahead and e-mail me. I'll give you full credit. A compliment (or constructive criticism… that's constructive, not flame) is always welcome. I need to know about formatting errors that I might not be aware of (I write in word and save as text with line breaks to meet GameFAQs requirements… word likes to mess with my formatting). If you have a question that isn't answered in the walkthrough, don't e-mail me. Look at the walkthrough! If you've really looked and you really can't find it, then e-mail me. I can't stress enough how many questions I'm asked that I've already answered in the walkthrough. If you ask me a question you can guarantee I'll look in my walkthrough first and, if the answer's in there, you either won't get a reply or I'll simply say 'read the walkthrough' and commence disliking you because you are stupid. You can imagine how annoying it is to have somebody ask me a question that I've already answered. If you want to correct incorrect information that I have feel free to try. I will do my best to verify everything before changing anything and, if I find you are correct, I will be more than happy to give you full credit. If you don't want credit (as in you seriously just don't want to be associated with this walkthrough) then mention it and I'll leave it off. If you don't tell me what nickname to give you credit under I will attempt to use your e- mail nickname (i.e. if you are SoAndSo42335@somewebsite.com I will credit you as SoAndSo). If your e-mail address is the exact same as your real name I will use your real name only as a last resort. If all else fails and, for some reason, I just can't get identification from your e-mail in any way, I'll respond to you (which might be hard without an e-mail address…) and ask how you would like to be included. --People You Should Flame Because They Are Stupid-- entropy321@yahoo.com --Don't Read This If You Are Stupid-- Seriously. I'm not going to tell you how to defeat every single monster in the game. I'm not going to map you a path to get from Kokiri Forest to Hyrule Castle… it's not a hard walk! I will tell you what room to go to next, how to solve the puzzle, and even how to get there (but only if getting there isn't obvious!). Sometimes I will use the phrase "exit the room." In those cases you should be intelligent enough to figure out which exit I mean if there are multiple exits. If you suffer from serious mental incapacity you will not gain anything from this walkthrough. If you want me to play the game for you, why the hell did you bother to start playing it to begin with?! Play the game. Additionally it might take some intelligence to translate my unique language into your own unique language. I realize that I speak (and, hence, write) oddly so you might not always understand what I mean. I even wrote an entire section of the walkthrough devoted to clarifying such mistakes! If I use a word you don't know (not saying that I use intense language here, just that if you happen to not know what a word means…) just go look it up on www.dictionary.com or use contextual clues to decipher its meaning on your own. Heck, use both and extrapolate your own meaning from there. It really shouldn't be that hard to understand. --My Language-- I use very specific language in describing things in this walkthrough. I'd like to detail some of it so people know what the hell I'm talking about. Most of it relates to going through certain doors and providing directions (i.e. right, left). If I say something such as 'exit' or 'exit the room' or provide very unclear directions as to what, where, or how you should exit than the answer should be obvious. If I tell you to exit and there are two doors I'm referring to the one you didn't actually go through yet. If I tell you to exit through the door you came in then I AM telling you to go through the door you've just been through! If I don't tell you what to exit, I probably mean the room. I use a lot of right and left directions and sometimes it's hard to tell what I might mean. Usually I'm referring to the way you're currently facing, if there's no other explanation. Sometimes (and I try to clarify when) I'm referring to the mini-map or based off of the way you were facing when you entered the room. Sometimes (and I apologize for these times) I simply have some strange concept in my mind and, although I don't realize it, absolutely everything in the room is "right" to me. I'm not sure why. I've been writing and suddenly realized that, although the mini-map, the way you entered the room, and the direction you are currently facing are all leftward, I've asked you to enter the door on the right. Forgive me, I wrote this walkthrough pretty quickly and without the aid of much caffeine so sometimes I got tired :) If you notice something like that you can e-mail me and I'll try to clean it up. Also, I use odd language. Some things (very few) I will intentionally call the wrong name. In real life I am quite a vulgar person, but I censor myself for GameFAQs. I find the words 'bastard' and 'hell' to be acceptable to most people so I use them when I feel they are appropriate. If you find those words offensive you will not wish to read this walkthrough. --Searching-- This is simply a list of what I call different things so you can search for them easily. I've removed as many occurrences of these phrases as sanely possible (you try explaining how to go through the water temple without using the words hookshot or longshot AND without sounding ridiculous). It's not perfect, but I daresay it's pretty good. I've not bothered to list official tool/spell names as I have written them quite accurately (using standard shorthand such as 'slingshot' instead of 'fairy slingshot'). Let me know if there are other things that need to be made searchable or if there are some hideous errors you encounter when searching. For particular sections simply search for the name of a place in-between dashes. The Forest Temple is found by searching for --Forest Temple--. It also works if you just search for --Forest. I call everything by its proper name (with a few exceptions listed below) so it shouldn't be difficult to find anything. Piece of Heart X: Where X is equal to its unique number. I've numbered them 1-36 (so you can see what you're missing on the checklist and search for a specific heart if you need more info). If you're just looking for a list of sorts the checklist works nice or you can just search without the number. Deku Seed Upgrade X: Where X is equal to 1 or 2 (corresponding to the first or second one I get appropriately). This is the upgrade that gives you more slingshot bullets. Deku Stick Upgrade X: Where X is equal to 1 or 2 (corresponding to the first or second one I get appropriately). This is the upgrade that gives you more deku sticks. Deku Nut Upgrade X: Where X is equal to 1 or 2 (corresponding to the first or second one I get appropriately). This is the upgrade that gives you more deku nuts. Bomb Bag Upgrade X: Where X is equal to 1 or 2 (corresponding to the first or second one I get appropriately). This is the upgrade that gives you more bombs. Quiver Upgrade X: Where X is equal to 1 or 2 (corresponding to the first or second one I get appropriately). This is the upgrade that gives you more arrows. Magic Upgrade: This is the upgrade that doubles your magic power. Defensive Upgrade: This is the upgrade that doubles your defensive power. Sword Spinny Thing: Also called Sword Whirlwind or Sword Spin Attack. This is where you hold the B Button to charge your sword and release an attack that hits all around you. Fruity Fairy: Also called Great Fairy. These fairies dress skimpy, laugh psychotically, and bend in ways that could only be taken perversely. Other FAQ writers (as well as a few of my friends) call them prostitutes and other less technical words that mean the same thing but probably shouldn't be written here. While the word 'fruity' is an understatement, I didn't want to be overly vulgar. Feel free to substitute the word for your favorite adjective. Lastly, the trading game pieces: Pocket Cucco Cojiro Odd Mushroom Odd Potion Broken Saw Broken Sword Prescription Eyeball Frog World's Finest Eyedrops Claim Check --Updates-- 1.1: Added one question to the FAQ and updated the information on the fight with Ganon. 1.2: Added information on Ganondorf's second spell, the bunny ears, and the second deku nut upgrade. 1.3: Fixed some formatting and the timing on one of the heart pieces from the Zora River Frogs (despite meeting the requirements for one of them, you just can't get it before becoming adult link). Also moved the time requirement for bombchu bowling prizes and Farore's Wind to earlier. Added even more information on fighting Ganondorf. Fixed up the checklist and made it prettier. Added a heart piece I didn't even know was missing. Added the searching section to aid people with their searches. 1.4: Added the extra bottle trick to the tips & tricks section because I just plain didn't think to put it there :p Also tweaked some sections of the walkthrough to make it sound clearer. Added more info on the latter half of the fight against Ganondorf. Added information on what a crystal switch in the Ice Cave does (I was brain dead and just didn't remember what it did). Added a shortcut to help get Biggoron's Sword. Added a trick for fighting Volvagia. 1.5: Added tricks in the Fire Temple and Shadow Temple. Added an interesting sign trick in the 'Tips & Tricks' section that's just hilarious. Added more tricks for earning rupees as a child AND as an adult. 1.6: Made a few subtle changes in text all over the place. A small update overall, but an update nonetheless. 1.7: Stupidly I assumed everybody would just use this walkthrough every single step of the way. In this assumption I accidentally slighted free-willed readers by only mentioning one key in the lens of truth dungeon. I'm perfectly well aware of the second key, however, and without knowledge of that second key one might very well get stuck if they used the key I do mention on the wrong door. I've added the location of the second key because I encourage people to try and figure stuff out on their own (it's fun!). 1.8: Added cow trick and made other miscellaneous touch-ups 1.9: Two new fighting tips & tricks and other miscellaneous touch-ups 2.0: Lots of miscellaneous touch-ups. 2.1: Added a question to the FAQ and a tip for fighting the Dead Hand enemy. --Things to Come-- I'll be improving the quality of the information by playing through the game at least once more, probably 2-3 more times. I will also be improving information through submissions. I've just revamped the checklist. If you think there's something I could have done better about it please let me know. Please try to be polite or I might have to get mad at you :) The FAQ portion will be improved via submissions as well. --Tips & Tricks-- -Skulltula Trick- The trick for infinite gold skulltulas is still in the game! Thank you, Nintendo, for leaving known bugs intact!! I wish more companies had that attitude :) I personally find nothing wrong with this trick and use it liberally. It is for that reason that I list very few gold skulltula locations in the walkthrough itself and actually do not have a gold skulltula list. Really, it's too much of a pain. I'll mention a few gold skulltulas (primarily before the trick is possible so you can get the adult's wallet and stone of agony), but that's really all I feel obligated to mention. If you're not the kind of person that wants to "cheat" and you feel the need to express this opinion… well, as callous as it may sound, find another walkthrough. I'm sure there will be plenty and since I express my opinion everywhere in this walkthrough reading it will likely make you angry and frustrated. If you can deal with the fact that I happily use this bug to my advantage and encourage others to do the same, then we'll get along fine. People that get angry over stupid things piss me off anyways :) So, on with the trick. Head to Hyrule Castle and sneak past all the guards until you're behind the castle gates. Don't actually enter the area you go to meet Zelda. In the corner of this area is a lone tree. Play the song of storms by it to reveal a hole. Drop down the hole. Look to the left and bomb that wall. There should be a regular skulltula and a gold skulltula. Kill the gold skulltula but do not collect the token. Stand with the exit pad to your back, aim your boomerang and fire at the token. Quickly press the L Button, down, and then the A Button to backflip onto the exit pad. You'll begin to exit and then you'll hear the 'you got a token' noise as an empty text window pops up. You'll appear again on the surface. Play the song of storms, drop down the hole, bomb the left wall… and the gold skulltula is still there! *gasp* Kill it, toss the boomerang, backflip onto the exit, etc. Repeat this trick as many times as you need to hit 100 gold skulltulas. If you start to run low on bombs, just bomb the wall straight ahead when you go down the hole. A jar in there has 5 bombs every time. When you're low, just start bombing both walls every time you go down and you'll gain 3 bombs every time. Be honest… collecting gold skulltulas is stupid anyway. Not only are there way too many, but also it's very difficult to cover every inch of the world young and old, night and day. That's the area of the game world multiplied by 4 that you have to cover. That's only if you're good, too… some people won't find everything (such as a hole near the castle that opens when you play the song of storms). I personally liked the gold skulltula houses in Majora's Mask. That was a great way to do the collections. I didn't have to be alert everywhere I went and there was no time that it might have been a good idea to go 7 rooms out of my way in the current dungeon. Well, forget about doing stupidly difficult things in a dungeon or going way out of your way anywhere: just do the skulltula trick!! -Child Link Rupee Trick- If you're standing on the drawbridge chain outside Hyrule Castle you can walk on top of the drawbridge when night falls. There are three red rupees hidden up there and, with the aid of the song of sun, it's a great way to get rupees quickly as a child. It's also a good way to get into Hyrule Castle at night while grabbing a couple extra rupees along the way! Selling bugs to the hyper little freak that buys things with C is a pretty good way to make cash. You get 50 rupees per bug. Additionally, each time you drop a bug you are actually dropping 3 bugs, so you can drop a bug, capture 3 bugs, sell 2 bugs, drop a bug, etc. for as much cash as you need. Fish sell even better (100 rupees) and can be caught easily in Zora's Domain. Unfortunately they're a bit far from the hyper little dude that buys them, so bugs might be better. -Adult Link Rupee Trick- As Adult Link, after you've gotten the saw in the trading game, you can enter the screen that had a skull kid in it as a kid (and had Cojiro's owner and the kokiri girl in it during the trading game) and you'll find a skull kid there. This time he's hostile and you can kill him for 200 rupees each time! Don't jump-slash him, though, otherwise he'll run away. This trick is easy and repeatable for full rupees any time you need them. -Sign Healing Trick- Everybody knows this trick already, but I figured I'd have to list it so I can list the next trick I just found out. If you play Zelda's Lullaby in front of a sign you've already slashed apart with your sword the pieces will come back together and the sign will be whole again. -Delayed Sign Healing Trick- Okay, this really doesn't qualify as a trick, but it's hilarious so I had to put it somewhere. Find a sign that's right next to the edge of a cliff or pit. The sign I saw it performed on was in the Shadow Temple, just before the guillotine that precedes two invisible platforms and a locked door. The sign warns you that you need the sacred boots. So, my friend slashed the sign apart and a quarter of it fell off the pit. He played Zelda's Lullaby to restore the sign and we laughed at how the sign didn't come completely back together since a piece fell off the pit. After several seconds, however, it DID come back together! The sign floats up all the way from the bottom of the pit. Yeah, it's a totally useless trick, but it's terribly amusing to watch. Also, this trick apparently works on a sign just before the bridge in Gerudo Valley. -Extra Bottle Trick- Capture something with a bottle and pause the game during Link's swinging animation. Replace the bottle with any other item in your inventory and when you un-pause the item will be replaced with a bottle! You should really only use this trick for items you won't use anymore (claim check, mask, magic beans). If you use the mask and you end up needing a mask later you can always just go borrow another one and the bottle will be replaced with it :) I've heard this trick works best when trying to capture bugs (just pick up random rocks and you'll eventually find one with bugs under it). Note: never, ever replace items that you'll need later (such as bombs, or bombchu). Also remember that fairies in 'extra' bottles can't revive you (only ones in normal bottles can). -Cow Trick- After you get Epona race her at the ranch and get a time of 50 seconds or less. Your reward will be a cow in your house in Kokiri Village. You can get milk from it (and any other cow) by playing Epona's Song right next to it, but fairies are so much better anyways. -Wolfos Trick- After the Wolfos attack you they will spin around. Hit them in the back for an instant kill. -Dead Hand Trick- In any rooms where you need to fight a Dead Hand (the purple thing with a giant neck surrounded by 6 scrawny hands that grab you when you get close) you can actually see the Dead Hand underground if you use the Lens of Truth (looks like a shadow on the floor). If you bomb that spot he will come out of the ground without you needing to let a hand grab you (or, in one room in the Shadow Temple, there are no hands and you must do this). When fighting him you can use the Sword Spinny Thing (the one you charge by holding down the sword button) to kill him much quicker. If you're good you can kill him before he even sinks back into the ground. --FAQ-- Q: What's different in Master Quest? A: The dungeons. The physical layout is the same and everything outside of the dungeons is the same, but all of the puzzles are completely different. There are some classical solutions, but also some completely new things that should happily baffle all the true Zelda fans for a decent amount of time :) Truly, it's the first game I've played in a long time that frustrated me in a happy way. Q: In the Spirit Temple I'm having problems in the room with 4 beamos and 3 blocks of time. I've played the Song of Time as suggested in the walkthrough, but I still can't reach the block. A: You did not play the song of time as the walkthrough suggested. You need to play it three times: once for the lone block sitting on top of a switch, then twice more at the opposite side of the room. This will walk the crate down from the very top block to the very bottom block where it will be easy to grab. --Checklist-- Non-indented list items are plot required (please tell me if I missed any), so this checklist can be used as a 'plot points' FAQ. It also helped to pretty it up instead of being a long, hard to read list (now it's just long and mostly hard to read). Parentheses in front of a dungeon name include the important tool found in that dungeon. Parentheses in front of other things are vague hints that should give a good boost to players not looking for true spoilers, or evoke memories in experienced players. This entire walkthrough is searchable, as well, so if you need more information on something just search for it. __Deku Tree (Slingshot) __Deku Seed Upgrade 1 (target game in Hyrule Castle) __Piece of Heart 1 (dog lady in Hyrule Castle) __Zelda's Lullaby __Bottle 1 (Lon Lon Ranch super cucco game) __Epona's Song (show Malon your ocarina) __Piece of Heart 2 (Lon Lon Ranch, crate moving) __Piece of Heart 3 (Behind a cow in a house in Kakariko Village) __Piece of Heart 4 (On a roof in Kakariko Village) __Bottle 2 (Corral the cucco lady's cuccos) __Use Zelda's Letter __Sell Keaton Mask (guard in Kakariko Village) __Hylian Shield (Kakariko Graveyard, or Hyrule Castle shop) __Song of Sun (Kakariko Graveyard) __Piece of Heart 5 (Kakariko Graveyard) __Piece of Heart 6 (Dampe's Gravedigging Tour) __Piece of Heart 7 (Above Dodongo Cavern) __Meet Darunia __Deku Seed Upgrade 2 (Lost Woods target) __Piece of Heart 8 (Lost Woods Ocarina Game) __Deku Stick Upgrade 1 (Forest Stage, Skull Mask) __Saria's Song (Sacred Forest Meadow) __Piece of Heart 9 (Skull Kid) __Sell Skull Mask (Skull Kid) __Deku Stick Upgrade 2 (hole in Lost Woods) __Goron Bracelet (From Darunia) __Piece of Heart 10 (Goron City jar) __Dodongo's Cavern (Bombs) __Piece of Heart 11 (Death Mountain Crater) __Sword Spinny Thing (Death Mountain Crater, Fairy Fountain) __Magic Beans (bought from kid in Zora's River) __Piece of Heart 12 (early in Zora's River) __Din's Fire (Hyrule Castle) __Piece of Heart 13 (late in Zora's River) __Piece of Heart 14 (light torches in Zora's Domain) __Silver Scale (Zora Diving Game) __Bomb Bag Upgrade 1 (rolling goron) __Deku Nut Upgrade 1 (hole under boulder in Lost Woods) __Bottle 3 (Lake Hylia) __Piece of Heart 15 (Lake Hylia Fishing Game) __Piece of Heart 16 (Gerudo Valley, with the cucco) __Piece of Heart 17 (Gerudo Valley, behind the waterfall) __Sell Spooky Mask (kid in Kakariko Graveyard) __Farore's Wind (Zora's Fountain) __Jabu-Jabu (Boomerang) __Ocarina of Time (outside Hyrule Castle) __Song of Time __Sell Bunny Ears (Hyrule Field, running man) __Deku Nut Upgrade 2 (Forest Stage) __Scarecrow's Song Part 1 (Lake Hylia, Bonooru the scarecrow) __Bomb Bag Upgrade 2 (Bombchu Bowling Game) __Piece of Heart 18 (Bombchu Bowling Game) __Master Sword (temple of time) __Pocket Cucco (cucco lady) __Piece of Heart 19 (Kakariko Graveyard) __Piece of Heart 20 (Kakariko Windmill) __Song of Storms (Guru-Guru) __Piece of Heart 21 (race Dampe) __Piece of Heart 22 (Zora's Fountain) __Piece of Heart 23 (Ice Cave) __Ice Cave (Iron Boots) __Serenade of Water __Zora's Tunic (King Zora, or purchased) __Piece of Heart 24 (Zora's Fountain, bottom) __Piece of Heart 25 (Lake Hylia, rooftop) __Golden Scale (Lake Hylia Fishing Game) __Scarecrow's Song Part 2 (Lake Hylia, Bonooru the scarecrow) __Piece of Heart 26 (Lake Hylia Mad Scientist) __Piece of Heart 27 (just outside Lake Hylia, in a hole) __Piece of Heart 28 (West of Hyrule Castle, in a hole by a tree) __Epona (Lon Lon Ranch racing game) __Cojiro (Wake Talon, return to cucco lady) __Goron Tunic (rolling goron, or purchased) __Bolero of Fire (Death Mountain Crater) __Odd Mushroom (Lost Woods) __Odd Potion (Kakariko, Old Hag's Potion Shop) __Broken Saw (Lost Woods, Kokiri girl) __Broken Sword (Carpenter in Gerudo Valley) __Prescription (Biggoron, top of Death Mountain) __Eyeball Frog (King Zora) __World's Finest Eyedrops (Lake Hylia mad scientist) __Claim Check (Biggoron) __Biggoron's Sword (Biggoron) __Minuet of Forest (Sacred Forest Meadow) __Forest Temple (Fairy Bow) __Gerudo Fortress __Piece of Heart 29 (Gerudo Fortress top) __Piece of Heart 30 (Gerudo Horseback Archery Game) __Quiver Upgrade 1 (Gerudo Horseback Archery Game) __Quiver Upgrade 2 (Kakariko Village Target Game) __Bottle 4 (Big Poes) __Prelude of Light (Temple of Time) __Piece of Heart 31 (Zora's River Frogs 1) __Piece of Heart 32 (Zora's River Frogs 2) __Gold Skulltula Trick __Giant's Wallet (Kakariko Village Skulltula House) __Piece of Heart 33 (Kakariko Village Skulltula House) __Lens of Truth (Kakariko Well, as a child) __Piece of Heart 34 (Treasure Chest Game) __Piece of Heart 35 (Death Mountain Crater) __Temple of Fire (Megaton Hammer) __Magic Upgrade (Death Mountain Crater) __Temple of Water (Longshot) __Fire Arrows (Lake Hylia) __Requiem of Spirit (across the desert) __Spirit Temple 1 (Silver Gauntlets) __Piece of Heart 36 (Desert Colossus) __Nocturne of Shadow (Kakariko Village) __Shadow Temple (Hover Boots) __Gerudo Training Ground (Ice Arrows) __Spirit Temple 2 (Mirror Shield) __Golden Gauntlets (in Ganon's Castle) __Defensive Upgrade (Outside Ganon's Castle) __Ganon's Castle --Deku Tree-- Before you can actually head to the first dungeon you need to get a sword and shield. After leaving your house head left and follow the wall around to the bottom of a ramp. Go up the ramp, through a pathetic fence maze and enter a hole in the wall. To the right is a dead end, although you might look for rupees there. Head left, then right, around a corner, and then right to a large treasure chest. The chest has the Kokiri Sword in it; take it. Now you need to buy a shield. Run around town looking for rupees. Slashing bushes helps and so does throwing rocks. Also try to look behind Mido's house. Jump across the platforms over the water to receive 5 rupees. You can also walk through grass to get rupees. Lastly, try searching in people's houses and breaking their pots to get a few extra rupees if you need them. When you've gotten 40 rupees head to the shop and purchase the deku shield. Now it's time to head for the Deku Tree. When you first head over there Mido is blocking the way. Make sure you equip both sword and shield, then talk to him and he'll back off. Kill the deku baba on the path for some deku sticks, then head into the large clearing with the Deku Tree. After a cut scene you'll be allowed to go inside. Turn immediately left to see a ladder. Climb up it and make your way around the perimeter of the room (careful of the keese and 2 gohma larva). Open the treasure chest here for the map and break the box to reveal a gold skulltula. Climb the vines on the back wall. At the top, move to the right a little bit and then drop down. Go around the edge of this room until you see a door; enter it. If you want 5 rupees light a deku stick on the torch to the right and use it to light the unlit torch in the middle of the room (it will create a treasure chest with 5 rupees in it). Walk around the edge of the room, triggering any gohma larva on the ceiling. Kill them. Now hit the switch at the beginning of the room to raise the platforms. Jump across them to the far side and kill the gohma larva (perhaps even collecting your 5 rupees… joy). Step on the switch and navigate the platform again to reach the left side of the room. Kill the gohma larva here, too, to make a treasure chest with the slingshot appear. Now exit the room and step on the switch just outside of it. Go to the edge (where a deku baba is sitting; kill it) and jump off, aiming for the web below so you don't get hurt. Light a deku stick, run to the middle of the web, and swing the deku stick to light the web on fire. Quickly run off the web so you don't fall. Now go up the ladder on this floor, kill all the enemies, and then light a deku stick. Run with it over to the web on the far end and burn it. Go through the door there. It's a good idea to kill everything in this room that you can from the starting ledge with the slingshot (the only one you can't is the big skulltula). Then jump onto the platform (just wait for it to fall) to attract the attention of the big skulltula and kill that. Climb up the vines and open the treasure chest for the compass. Turn around, target the ladder, and shoot it with the slingshot to bring it down. Before you leave note the boulders at the top of the vines near the treasure chest… you can come back and blow them up later when you get bombchu (it's sooner than you think). Exit the room, go back to the web on the ground that you burnt and jump down the hole. Head to the platform on the right side and step on the switch to light a torch on the other platform. If you'd like 5 rupees light a deku stick on the torch and burn the nearby web. Then step on the switch and get the resulting treasure chest for 5 rupees. Now shoot the eye above the exit door with your slingshot to open it. Exit through it. Kill all the enemies in this room and then exit back out the way you came in. Light a deku stick on the torch and re-enter the room. Quickly light the two torches on the right to open the door. In the next room there is a treasure chest to the left with a recovery heart in it if you need it. When the platform starts to move towards you from the far end (timing is important) step on the blue switch. Light a deku stick on the torch and jump onto the platform (it should just be arriving). Hold the R Button to duck down under the spiked log. Don't stand on the center of the platform or a gohma larva will knock you off. Jump off on the other side and quickly light the two nearby torches. Kill the gohma larva (or knock it into the water) and then go to the right side and against the back wall. From this angle you should be able to kill the big skulltula with your slingshot. Then climb up the block of time and exit the room. Kill all the enemies in this room (including the lone keese) and exit the door that opens. Kill the four keese on top of the four torches in this room (otherwise they'll light on fire and burn your shield), preferably with the slingshot. There are two burnable webs in the room. When you step on the switch the camera will focus on the right one (the left one leads only to a gold skulltula that requires the boomerang to collect). Light a deku stick and go burn that web. Now crawl through the hole behind it. Kill the giant deku baba and defeat the deku scrub. Now push the block on the left side off the edge to create a step. Go to the lit torch in the room and light a deku stick. Jump into the shallow water, climb up to the web and swing the deku stick to burn it. Fall down the hole. Kill the deku scrub on the right side first, then the one on the left, and finally the one in the middle. Target the middle one that has started hopping around and he'll blather for a bit before opening the door. Exit to the boss room. Now it's time to fight Queen Gohma. Target her and shoot her eye with the slingshot when it turns red. This will stun her. Quickly run up to her and jump-slash her as many times as you can quickly (it can be done 3-4 times per stun). She'll get up, but you can keep her targeted. When she crawls on the ceiling just wait for her eye to turn red and quickly hit it with the slingshot to knock her down and stun her again. If you're fast enough with your jump-slashes you should only have to knock her down once to kill her. Collect your heart container afterwards and exit the dungeon. Now you'll get to hear the Deku Tree blather on for a really long time and he'll tell you to go to Hyrule Castle. You might as well head there since you have nothing better to do just yet. --Hyrule Castle-- Deku Seed Upgrade 1: Win the target game in Hyrule Castle Town Piece of Heart 1: Enter Hyrule Castle Town at night (you'll need to be standing on the drawbridge as it turns night… or you can enter the town, then the castle grounds and wait for night there). On the center screen head left, around some stuff and over by a white dog underneath the balcony. Run into the white dog so he follows you, then head right and into the alleyway. Enter the door on the right and talk to the lady inside. She'll give you a heart piece. Enter the castle grounds and climb up a vine on your right. Run down towards the guard gate and jump down on the other side (or walk across it). You want to be caught by the guards while it's still night. When you're caught you'll be thrown out by the gate and you'll hear Malon singing. She's standing by the vine; go talk to her. She'll give you an egg. If you've been fast enough it will still be nighttime when she gives it to you. The egg hatches the first morning you have it :) Now head up the vine again and jump down on the other side of the gate. Walk down the pathway, but don't get too close to the two guards along it. You'll want to head left before they catch you, but make sure you're going a good enough distance behind the guard at the top of the hill. Cross directly over to the far, unguarded wall and climb up some bricks there (not sure why a rock has bricks on it… but hey, it helps). Jump down into the castle "moat" to collect the valuable rupees there. Apparently money is more effective than sharks…? Swim with the current to the corner of the "moat" and climb out. Head left to see Talon sleeping. If your cucco isn't hatched yet you'll want to wait for it to hatch. Face Talon and use it. He'll go tearing off. Now you can move the crates past where he was. Push both of them as far as they'll go in that direction and you'll hear the typical Zelda noise. Climb on top of them and jump across to the niche in the wall. Hit the A Button to crawl through a hole. Here the guards will try to catch you and throw you out. All you have to do is make sure to never run in front of them. It's possible on all the screens. If you're behind them you can get obscenely close without getting caught… and getting caught is bad, so being behind them is good :) Make your way through these screens and into the Royal Garden. If you're in need of rupees slingshot the window on the right side. If you have too many hearts, slingshot the window on the left side. Talk to Zelda. You get several dialogue options, but they're all meaningless – either the same thing happens no matter what or they force you to pick the proper choice. Afterwards when you attempt to leave you will talk to Impa. She will teach you Zelda's Lullaby and then lead you out of the castle. Head for Lon Lon Ranch. --Extra Stuff Time!-- Bottle 1: Lon Lon Ranch Super Cucco Game. Enter the house on the left as you enter Lon Lon Ranch. A little trick to do here is, before talking to Talon, grab all the Cuccos (leaving alone the 2 on the counter and the 1 at Talon's feet), run behind the counter with them, and throw them back there. They'll all stay put back there pretty well. Talk to Talon and pay him 10 rupees to play his Super Cucco Game. He'll throw out his 3 super cuccos and you have 30 seconds to find all of them. Since you already threw the other cuccos behind the counter, they'll be the only 3 cuccos not behind the counter :) You'll receive a bottle with milk in it for your efforts. Epona's Song: Talk to Malon three times. The third time she'll ask to sing a song with you. Pull out your ocarina, learn the song, and watch Link mess himself. Piece of Heart 2: Exit the fenced in area and walk around the outside of it. You'll come to a door that leads to a barn. The idea here is to move the crate blocking the far corner so you can enter a hidden hole behind it. If you number the crates as follows: 1 2 3 4 5 6 Pull 4 right, pull 6 right, push 5 left, push 6 left, pull 4 down, pull 2 down, push 2 down, pull 1 right. Now climb over 1 and enter the hidden hole for your just reward. Cucco 1: Village Entrance Piece of Heart 3: Grab a cucco, run to the top of the building under construction, leap off towards the cucco pen while holding the cucco, throw him just before you hit the overhang and hopefully Link will grab on. Cucco 2: Between the cucco pen and the graveyard entrance Note: The guard outside Impa's house (the house by the cucco pen) invites you to head on inside since Impa doesn't live there anymore and it's now open to all villagers. The man inside complains that you entered without being invited. *sigh* Cucco 3: Behind a fence off to the right as you enter; shoot it Cucco 4: In a box in a corner by the bottom of the stairs off to the left as you enter. Cucco 5: Near the entrance to Death Mountain Piece of Heart 4: Go up the stairs on the left as you enter. There is a tall tower with a ladder that you can climb; climb it. Facing the opposite direction the ladder is in run forward. Hold down the L button and run left and forward, while still facing forward. Press the A button to jump off and keep holding left as you fall. You will end up grabbing onto the edge of a fence as you fall. Climb up to the top of the fence and from there climb up onto the nearby roof. Talk to the man up there to get a heart piece. Cucco 6: After getting the heart piece, jump off the rooftop into the area you can't normally get to. A cucco is down there. Throw him over the fence (you'll have to run up the stairs with him) and he'll be waiting for you over there when you climb the ladder out as long as you didn't enter the hole after throwing him. Cucco 7: Up the ladder from where you got Cucco 6. You have to pass him to leave the area where you got Cucco 6. Bottle 2: Reward for penning all 7 Cuccos. Now go use the letter Zelda gave you on the guard guarding the entrance to Death Mountain. Sell Keaton Mask: Get the Keaton Mask from the Mask Shop in Hyrule Castle Town and sell it to the guard you just showed Zelda's Letter to. Hylian Shield: Pull back the grave nearest the entrance that has plants growing at its base. It will reveal a hole. Down the hole is a treasure chest containing a hylian shield. Song of Sun: Play Zelda's Lullaby while standing on the triforce symbol near the giant grave in back. Go down the hole and kill all the keese in the entrance room. Then go through the door and run past all the re-dead until you get to the far back. Inspect the wall to learn the song of sun. Piece of Heart 5: As you're facing away from the hole you just got the song of sun go to the second grave to the left of the center path (in the row nearest to you). Pull it back to reveal a hidden hole. Drop down, play the song of sun to stun the re-dead, then walk over by the re-dead and play the song of sun again to reveal a treasure chest with a heart piece in it. Piece of Heart 6: Have Dampe dig up spots of dirt in the path and eventually one of them will be a heart piece. This seems more rare in Master Quest (or perhaps just in the 'cube version), but that could simply be my perception. I usually get it on the third or fourth try, but in Master Quest I actually spent 99+ rupees, had to go and restock, and then when I came back I got it on the second try. Piece of Heart 7: Okay, so this is definitely one that shouldn't quite be gotten yet, but hey… if it's in the game it's not cheating, right? :p Head over to the bomb flower at the top of Death Mountain. Face away and to the right of the bomb flower and hold down the L Button. Now walk into the enclosure the flower is in and over to the right (that should put you in a corner). Press back and the A button and you'll back-flip over the fence. If you did everything right you'll land (painfully) on the platform that you aren't supposed to get to. The pain won't matter as you'll be able to use the nearby heart piece to fill right back up again! :) --Pre-Dodongo-- Go to the bottom of the Goron Cavern. Play Zelda's Lullaby in front of the closed door, then go inside and talk to Darunia. On your way out take out a Deku stick and light it on one of the torches inside. Run out and light all 4 torches in the surrounding room to start the vase spinning. This will result in a heart piece later :) Take out another deku stick and light it on one of the torches near the stairs. Run up the stairs, over to the right and light these two torches. Put away the deku stick so it doesn't burn up, then take it out again, light it, and head down the tunnel. Light one of the bombs and run away (or stick around and get blown up if you like – I don't care :p). Head into the tunnel afterwards. Deku Seed Upgrade 2: After the owl is done blathering, head straight across from where you came out. Turn left and look at the little thingy hanging from the tree. Hit it dead center with your slingshot 3 times to get your last deku seed upgrade. Piece of Heart 8: Head down the nearby ladder and walk over to the tree stump. Stand on it and take out your ocarina. You'll have to follow these two skull kids in 3 songs, each one longer than the last. When you're finished you will get a heart piece. Now climb up the ladder and head right, right, left, straight, left, right to enter the sacred forest meadow. You'll have to fight a wolf at the entrance. The best way to defeat him is to target him, block with your shield until he hits you, and then jump-slash. Needless to say executing the jump-slash with proper timing will require that your sword be drawn before you begin blocking. Make your way through the maze here and learn Saria's Song at the end of it. Deku Stick Upgrade 1: Exit the sacred forest meadow. If you need health, climb up the ladder at the bottom of the stairs, jump off the ledge into the center and drop down a hole for a fairy fountain. In the lost woods head left, right, right and search the grass (where the butterflies float) for a hole to drop down. Put on the skull mask and approach the "stage" in front of you. The deku will begin swarming around you happily. Walk over towards the strange deku off to the right side and he'll give you the deku stick upgrade. Piece of Heart 9: When you're ready exit the lost woods by taking any wrong path. Re- enter immediately and head left. Hop on the tree stump and play Saria's Song for the skull kid. He'll give you a heart piece. Skull Mask: Now it's time to give him something in return – the skull mask! Put it on and talk to him. Deku Stick Upgrade 2: There are 2 exits in the skull kid room; take the one you did not enter through. Jump down into the bottom area and climb up a ramp on the right. Defeat a deku scrub and he'll allow you to buy a deku stick upgrade. Now head back to the Goron cavern (from the lost woods entrance head right, left, straight) and play Saria's Song for Darunia. Watch him get down with his bad self and he'll give you the goron bracelet as a sort of apology for his atrocious dancing. Piece of Heart 10: Head up the stairs and to the left. At a turn in the hallway you'll notice a bomb flower that you can now pick up. Pick it up, run back the way you came and quickly toss it into the spinning jar. This will likely take several tries, but be patient. When you succeed it should spit out a heart piece (if not, keep bombing it until it does). Now head up to the top of Death Mountain, pick up the bomb flower, and toss it off the edge to blow away the rocks blocking off the Dodongo Cavern. Head down the mountain (or jump) and enter. --Dodongo's Cavern-- The first room of the cavern will require you to pick up one of two bomb flowers and throw it at the obvious target (don't be the idiot that e-mails me asking where to throw the bomb). This will cue the entry cut scene. If you like you can imagine thoroughly ominous music playing during this cut scene. The game is hideously lacking in the ominous music department. Let me tell you: holy hell is this cave ever different from the original from this point on! Jump to the central platform after Navi annoyingly forces her speech upon you and pick up the bomb flower. Jump off the platform on the back right and throw the bomb at the rock on the ground. The rock will delightfully explode and reveal a switch underneath. The switch will enable the right moving pedestal to reach the second floor. Make your way back up and ride the pedestal to the second floor. Head across the bridge on the second floor, press the switch that will light a torch and open a door, then go right ahead and jump off the bridge (make sure to press forward as you fall so you can avoid damage by rolling). Go through the newly opened door. Head right immediately to avoid fire from the beamos. It's probably best to kill it before you continue and it's not hard to do so. Pick up a bomb, target the beamos, run forward and throw. The bomb will hit it every time. Now throw a bomb at the rock wall behind and to the right of the now dead beamos. You'll also want to kill the second beamos in the room and collect the important white rupee he leaves behind (it's one of many required to proceed). Now head to the side of the room opposite where you came in and roll-attack the box in the corner for another white rupee. This next part is a bit tricky but they never said demolitions was easy. Light a deku stick, wave it past the bomb flower on the wall, then pick up the lit bomb and toss it exactly in the middle of the line of bombs around the stairs. If done correctly it will give you new access to the second floor via a set of stairs. If you really can't get it done properly, just pick up the bomb and run over to where it needs to go. You'll get hurt, but it'll give you your stairway. Ignore the room you haven't gone in yet (there's nothing for you there – yet) and head up the stairs. Make special note of the last stair. It raises up and takes you to a deku scrub that will sell you a shield in case a flaming keese burns up yours. It's best to just keep the hylian shield out and only use the deku shield when necessary. Head to the left once you get to the top of the stairs and roll into another box to get another white rupee. Now head to the very top, kill the two big skulltulas and climb the vines for another white rupee. The last white rupee is down the opposite ramp inside the box (once again, roll-attack it to break it). Upon collecting the last rupee the exit door will open. In the next room you will find 3 dodongos. The easiest way to kill them is to let them start to breathe fire, then run around behind them and slash their tail. Repeat until dead and be careful because they violently explode upon death (a concept I find terribly amusing). Some people might prefer to use the bomb on the center pedestal and simply toss it off towards whichever dodongo you please. Either method works. When they are all dead the exit door will open and a treasure chest containing the compass will appear. Grab your compass and head out. Cross the bridge and head into the next room. You'll notice a torch that definitely was not there in the original. Drop down into the pit and you'll notice three floating torches. You have the bonus disc, you're a Zelda fan, forgive the designers for this ludicrous defiance of reality and provide each of the three torches with a block to stand on using the three conveniently provided blocks in the nearby hallways. Once the torches have blocks, head up the ladder back the way you came, light a deku stick, and hop down onto the blocks to light all three torches. Be quick! This will open a door to the far left and light a very important torch on a different pedestal. If you wish to head over to the left you will duel with gohma larva in exchange for 5 rupees and a hidden gold skulltula… up to you. When you're ready, pull the block out from under the floating ladder on the opposite side and climb the ladder. At the top of the ladder, double back and jump onto the platform with the torch. Light a deku stick, jump back to the top of the ladder, and run down the hallway lighting a torch and a web at the same time. Quickly kill the big skulltula (you'll need to do it in one hit… draw your sword and press the A button to do an overhead swing for double damage), relight your deku stick and light the next torch. Now jump down on the left side and you'll notice a block. Pull the block out from against the wall, and then push it all the way over to the opposite side to give yourself a convenient way up (and I wanted to do some cool trick to remove the block on top from its pedestal). Watch out for keese in this next hallway. When you've dispatched all the enemies light a deku stick on the conveniently located torch, use it to light a nearby bomb flower, pick up the bomb and toss it at the fragile wall. The wall will blow up revealing your exit behind it. You will now encounter a mini-boss fight with 2 lizalfos. They are quite easy. I simply draw my sword and wait for one to come near. I target it and hide under my hylian shield until it strikes me, then I release the R button and quickly press A to jump-slash it. Repeat this once more and it should run away. The next one will come forth and you can follow the same pattern until it runs away. Repeat this until they are both dead, then exit through the new exit. Watch out for the keese (singular) on the right in the next room. The object here is to head down to the bottom, break a couple boxes, and then head back up. You'll now have a clear shot at a crystal switch, so shoot it. The flames on the closest pillar will fade temporarily. Jump onto the pillar, shoot the keese (singular) in the hole on the left, then jump into the hole, pick up the bomb, jump down and run to the far corner of the room to throw the bomb at a rock there. This will reveal a switch that will temporarily dampen the flames on the second pillar. Here I found it easiest to hit the crystal switch first, then step on the switch in the other corner, and then run back to the top and cross the pillars as quickly as possible. You'll enter the floating torch room with fairly worthless treasure accessible to you now. If you want the treasure, get it. When you're ready exit the room via the newly available exit. You'll come across a few rocks with a bomb flower in front of them. Simply pick up the bomb and put it down again to destroy the rocks. Now you're in the main room… with a newly accessible bomb flower! Grab the bomb and jump off to the right, then toss the bomb at the rock wall. It will explode revealing a treasure chest with the map. Now head back up, grab the bomb again, and jump off to the left this time. Toss it at the nearby wall and watch it explode in a familiar fashion. Go through the door to a new area. In this room step on the gray block on your left. It will rise up, taking you to bomb flower. Pick up the bomb, jump down, and toss the bomb at the nearby rock on the left. It will blow up revealing another bomb flower that's much easier to reach. If you like you can use it to blow open the room on the right, but that room has nothing but a deku scrub that wants to sell you a red potion. Note that further along in the room there is a bomb stuck to the wall on the right. Your goal is to throw your bomb at that bomb flower. It doesn't need to explode in midair; the explosion will reach from the ground. If you succeed you will set off a marvelously explosive chain reaction resulting in the removal of a boulder blocking an eye switch. Slingshot the eye switch to open up your exit and proceed to the next area. After going through a hallway with a couple teeny dodongos you'll face off with two more lizalfos. They are quite pathetic, so put them out of their misery and go on your merry way. In the next room you can pick up the bomb flower and toss it towards another line of bombs along the wall to set off another chain reaction. This will open a room that contains a gold skulltula you can't collect without the boomerang. Enter it only if you wish to see Nintendo's dark side :) When you're ready head over to the opposite end of the long room (dispatching the poes along the way if you like) and roll-attack a box near the closed exit to reveal a bomb flower. Use it to set off another chain reaction on more nearby wall bombs to open up your exit. This will lead you to the much awaited bomb bag. The game says it best, "Now you can set bombs to C and blow stuff up! What a lucky guy!" Head up to the second floor and drop a bomb in each of the giant dodongo's eyes (just drop them down the hole, it's lined up pretty well). You may also wish to bomb the wall on the left side of this giant room, but I assure you that you will not be rewarded for your efforts. When you're ready, head into the dodongo's mouth. There's nothing to do in this room quite yet so head into the room on the right. Wind your way around the giant wall and kill the pathetic lizalfos. You may pull the graves in the area if you like to do that sort of thing, it doesn't matter to me. When you wish to proceed simply toss a bomb over the flaming barrier and the barrier will extinguish like magic thanks to a crystal switch on the opposite side. Jump over the barrier. If you like you can enter a room over here that will pit you in a duel against one poe. Afterwards you are allowed to pull a gravestone, a task for which you are paid 5 rupees. When you're ready begin bombing the hell out of the statues from the safety of the platform on the right. They die quickly and easily with this method. Since these enemies explode upon death one of them will inevitably hit the bomb on the right, initiating a chain reaction that will end in the triggering of a crystal switch on the opposite side. To be perfectly honest, I have no idea what the hell that switch does since it's always set off by the dying enemies and doesn't turn off. Proceed to the next area. Exit the room, pull the gravestone (this time it's not just for fun, but you can have fun if you like) revealing a switch underneath and step on the switch. Now jump down and enter the room on the right. Bomb the discolored square of floor in the middle of the room and jump down the hole created by the resulting explosion. Meet King Dodongo; his bark is worse than his bite. The strategy is simple. Each time he rolls he'll round one corner, smash into the next, then walk towards the third corner. You want to be in that third corner. When he starts walking towards you pick up the bomb in that corner and run towards him. When he opens his mouth toss the bomb in and then draw your sword. He'll collapse and start glowing red when the bomb explodes. Target him and hit the A Button to do a jump- slash. Then run over to the wall on your left and when he starts rolling again he'll roll right past you without damaging you at all. Run forward, round the corner and just about the time you make it to the next corner will be just about the time you need to pick up that bomb. Repeat until dead. --Sword Spinny Thing-- Now you're treated to a special cut scene where a goron mob tries to molest young link. Don't worry, that link is a smart fellow and he runs away screaming. Darunia suggests you head to the top of Death Mountain so you might take his suggestion and go do that. Before heading all the way up there you might consider stopping in Goron City quickly. If you toss a bomb at the rolling goron while he's in the tunnel he'll stop rolling and give you a larger bomb bag. Now, on to the top of the mountain…. You'll need bombs to blow away the boulders blocking your path. You also will have to deal with flaming rocks impacting your skull every 7 feet. Finally you will come to a giant wall with 3 skulltulas on it. The best way to proceed is to slingshot a deku seed into each of them, then climb up. If you must you can slingshot one, then climb a bit and rest on a platform, then slingshot another and so on. At the top toss a bomb into the discolored wall on the left. The fruity fairy is in there, but ignore her for now. Take the other entrance first. Piece of Heart 11: It's quite hot in here so you can't stay for long, but you should be able to stay long enough to get a heart piece. Run over to the middle of the left cliff and slowly walk off the edge. You'll flip around and actually start climbing down it. Climb down and drop off the bottom, then immediately press up to catch onto the cliff below it. Climb up and into a little cut out section in the cliff and claim your heart piece. Now jump into the lava or just wait for your own death. Dying will teleport you back to the entrance minus one heart that didn't matter anyway. Now go visit the fairy. Sword Spinny Thing: This fairy is seriously fruity. Words cannot describe all that is wrong about her. I think these fairies may have conspired to create the abomination that became known as Tingle in Majora's Mask. Get the sword-whirlwind ability she has to give and get the hell out of there as fast as you can. It's not certain what kinds of irreparable emotional scarring she'll inflict upon Link if he stays too long. After you're out talk to the blathering owl for a quick ride back to town. He agrees that you need to get away from the fruity fairy. --Zora's Domain-- Now head over to Zora's River. Here the blathering owl will make you suffer yet again… and again… and again. It seems that he just won't friggin' go away, so try to pass the beginning of Zora's River as few times as possible. Magic Beans: After blowing some boulders away with bombs you'll find the magic bean kid. Buy as many beans as you can from him, but beware that he'll keep raising the price because somebody keeps eating all his beans (jerk). When you've bought as many as you can jump over to the right side of the stream then walk as far as you can and jump back over to the left again. Exploring this area you'll find a fairly obvious, but convoluted pathway that will lead you to the far left side of the area. Around here is a log. If you walk onto it into a ways you'll see a message stating that some frogs are staring at you from underwater. Take out your ocarina and the frogs come out to sing. Each time you play them a non-warp song they give you 50 rupees. Get some rupees from the frogs, and then go spend them on more magic beans. Repeat this for all four songs you currently have. Piece of Heart 12: Grab the cucco near the entrance to the area and take him with you near the fence in the middle. Toss him over the fence, then go around to the other side and pick him up again. Instead of going up the hill to progress in the area, however, turn around and look for a ledge that will be on the left of a large platform (on the very edge of the river). Holding the cucco jump off and float over to it. Toss the cucco in the water and climb the ladder. Here you find another cucco. There are two holes up here, both somewhat worthless (though they have rupees for magic beans!). One is underneath the boulder and the other is on another platform behind you. When you're done with the holes pick up the cucco, walk the narrow ledge to yet a third platform and then jump/float to the heart piece. Now head over to Kakariko Village. Hopefully you'll have picked up enough Gold Skulltulas by now to pick up the Adult's Wallet. It'll help out in picking up the rest of those magic beans. While you're here if you've bothered to pick up the spooky mask after selling the skull mask you can sell the mask to the kid running around the graveyard. Din's Fire: Now head to Hyrule Castle to pick up the last mask and to stock up on rupees using the drawbridge trick. You can also run into the castle area and follow the right wall (avoiding guards as usual) to find a rock. Bomb it and enter to receive Din's Fire from another seriously fruity fairy. When you're ready head back to Zora's River and pick up the all the magic beans except the last one (there are 10 total and you need the Adult's Wallet to get the last one). Piece of Heart 13: This heart piece is gotten much the same way the last one was. This time instead of jumping onto the ledge near the river you're going to actually progress further in Zora's River and climb up the hill. Keep carrying the cucco. You'll come to an area with twisty pathways. Stay on the current path, winding as it is, until its end. Then look left to see a platform with a heart piece on it. Jump/float over to it and it's yours. Now face the platform you just came from and jump into the water in that direction. You should see a ladder. Climb it and follow the pathway until you're standing on the little square plate on the ground. Play Zelda's Lullaby, then jump into the newly created gap. Piece of Heart 14: Inside head straight up the pathway and into the King's room. You can talk to him if you like, but he's useless. What you're after is the torch in his room. Light a deku stick with it and then run down the stairs to light another torch. Re-light your deku stick with this torch and run quickly to light four more torches. The first you will find in front of the shop as you wind down the pathway to the left. The second is in shallow water. The third and fourth are both behind the waterfall – be careful not to fall in the deep water or you'll have to start over. You won't have time to re-light your deku stick at all, so hurry. When all the torches are lit a giant treasure chest will appear behind the waterfall with a heart piece in it. Silver Scale: Go back to the King's room, and then turn left and head down the hallway. Talk to the Zora here and win his diving mini-game. Then come back and talk to him to claim your prize of a silver scale. Now you can travel between the lost woods and Zora's River by diving through the pool of water you passed just before playing Zelda's Lullaby. You can also travel between Zora's Domain and Lake Hylia by diving into the water near where you played the diving mini-game. This essentially connects Zora's Domain, Kokiri Forest, Goron City, and Lake Hylia all together quite easily. Remember it for fast travel. Deku Nut Upgrade 1: Try out your fast travel by quickly traveling to the lost woods. Head right, straight, left and bomb the boulder to reveal a hole underneath. Drop down and defeat the deku scrub on the left and he'll sell you a higher capacity for deku nuts. Bottle 3: Use the shortcut to Lake Hylia and you'll find a bottle at the bottom of the water. Piece of Heart 15: You can get a heart piece by catching a big fish in the fishing mini- game in Lake Hylia. It has to be at least 10 pounds. Piece of Heart 16: While you're over here quick head over to Gerudo Valley. Pick up the cucco near the cliff and walk to the edge of the cliff. Look slightly left and, off in the distance, you'll see a box on a small cliff ledge. Jump towards it and you will slowly float over there. If you're fast you can (theoretically) toss the cucco, break open the box, grab the heart piece, and pick the cucco up again before it runs off the cliff. Piece of Heart 17: If you managed to pick up the cucco again jump off the cliff towards the bridge making sure you stay along the left side. You should make it to a ledge very close to the water on the left. If you didn't get the cucco in time jump into the water and you'll flow out into Lake Hylia. Just make your way to the shore, come back to Gerudo Valley, pick up the cucco again and this time jump straight off the cliff towards the other side. You'll float for a long time and eventually land on the proper ledge. There is a place to plant a magic bean here… you might want to do that. When you're there walk all the way to the waterfall on the far end and jump into the water behind the waterfall. There is a ladder against the wall that you can climb for a heart piece. Farore's Wind: Head over to the piece of land on the very bottom right of the mini-map. Bomb the wall here near two rocks to open the way to a fairy fountain. Go inside to claim Farore's Wind from another hideously fruity fairy. --Jabu Jabu-- Go back to Zora's Domain and use the bottle on the King; he'll noisily waddle his large self out of the way so you can get past (what the hell noise is that anyway?!). Now go fill the bottle with one of the many fish found in Zora's Domain. Past the king you'll see a massive fish. Drop a tiny fish in front of it and stand there like an idiot while the giant fish eats you (what do you expect when you give it such a tiny meal? It's gotta live somehow). This has got to be the most interesting, hilarious dungeon yet. In the first room go ahead and kill anything killable that you feel like killing. Bombs easily kill the jellyfish, but you'd be better off stunning them with a deku nut and then killing them with your sword. Random fits of laughter caused by the occasional mooing noise might make it difficult :) When you're able, bomb the rock in the center. Step on the switch underneath to reveal a treasure chest with your map. Now target the cows and shoot them with the slingshot – not because you're a cruel bastard, but because you have to. The cow on the right makes a treasure chest appear and the cow on the left opens the door to the next room. In the next room shoot the cow on the right to make a treasure chest appear, then ride the moving platform down to the bottom area to collect the chest. Down here shoot the cow underwater, also shoot the enemy underwater, then dive under and swim to the other side to collect the compass inside the treasure chest you just revealed. Step on the switch in this area to open the door up top. Swim back out, ride the platform up, and hop over to the platform on the opposite side you came in. Exit the newly opened door. You'll meet up with Ruto in the next room. Drop down the same hole she fell down and talk to her twice. Ignore her for now, jump down into the bottom area and step on the switch in the middle. A pillar of water will raise you up so you can jump onto another platform here. You'll be able to shoot 2 different cows from here. Do so and collect the resulting treasure chests. Now head up the vines in the corner near the treasure chest with the bombchu in it. In this room look at the wall to the left of the door you originally entered through to see some boulders on the wall. Bombchu them and then slingshot the cow that was hiding behind them. Now head back down by Ruto. Pick her up, toss her into the bottom area, go down and pick her up again, then toss her upward onto the switch to open a door. Ride the water pillar up and hop onto the platform Ruto was originally on, then go through the door. Kill the pathetic Lizalfos in this room, and then kill everything else in the shallow water. Be careful not to get eaten by the like-like, he tends to do that. When everything is dead a treasure chest containing the long desired boomerang will appear. Step on the switch to raise the water level, then swim over to the vines and climb them to claim your prize. Exit the opposite way you came in. You've been in this room before. Wait for the moving platform to come down, and then ride it up top. From here jump off to the right and head into the room with the holes. Kill the jellyfish with your boomerang (yay!) and then use the boomerang on the wavy tongue thing at the far end. It will be stunned temporarily. Quickly climb on top of it and run off the other side, exiting through the door. In this strange room head right first and then left through the door. There are 2 cows here, one on each side of the room. Shoot one, kill the resulting like-like, and then repeat the same process for the other one. Your reward will be a lit torch, the unlocking of the exit, and a treasure chest containing a deku stick. Can you figure out what to do next? Light the deku stick, run out and light the web on fire. Head into the door behind. You'll now fight a uvula-like thingy. Target it and smack it with your boomerang to make it retract into the ceiling. Still targeted, toss your boomerang as you run towards it. It will conveniently lower itself into your flying boomerang. Back off again as it does so. Repeat until dead. Now head all the way across the previous room to the far left as the map shows it. There's another uvula in here to destroy. Do so, then exit and head down the corridor to your immediate left. The enemies on the floor of this room are easiest killed by a long distance boomerang shot. There's also a skulltula of little import behind a boulder on the left side of the room. Near the top of the room on the right side is a gold skulltula behind a boulder that will require the use of a bombchu to remove and the boomerang to collect. When you're ready go ahead and leave. The pillar of water activated by the switch in the center pretty much goes nowhere, but it probably allows you to bypass the use of a bombchu if you like. A bombchu is easier anyway. Now head down the central path. Kill the lizalfos here because he is pathetic. Now go back to the left side, pick up a crate, then go to the central path and place the crate on the switch. Head through the door and kill your last uvula. Now head back to Ruto. Pick her up, activate the nearby switch and ride the water pillar up. Jump onto the highest platform and enter the previously unavailable door here. Throw Ruto up onto the ledge, then approach the ledge to activate a mini-boss fight. First, stun the octopus with your boomerang. Then run in the same direction he is running, but make sure to stay unhealthily close to the spikes. If you're close enough to the spikes you will be gaining on him. When you get close enough (you need to be pretty close) hit him with the boomerang. Draw your sword, target him, and jump-slash the peculiar green orb in his backside. While still targeting him, back away and prepare to stun him with the boomerang to repeat the whole process again. If you jump-slash both times you'll only need to repeat it once. When he's dead walk onto the center platform and ride it up to the next level. Shoot the cow in the wall and exit the room. Head down to the bottom of the room. A lizalfos will appear soon enough, so kill it because it is pathetic. Now find the cow head on the wall and shoot it. Crates will appear by the entrance. Boomerang the wiggly things, then quickly pick up a crate and run across the wiggly things to the blue switch. Step on the blue switch, then drop the crate on it and exit the room. This is the second floor of a familiar room. Step onto the platform and it will sink down to the previous level allowing you access to the final area of the dungeon. In the next room kill the like-likes because they suck, then shoot the right cow head three times. You can shoot the left one, too, if you are so inclined. If you wish to climb the wall here and mess around with the boomerang a lot you can be rewarded with a gold skulltula. Whether it's worth it or not is up to you. When you're ready head out the exit into the boss room. This boss fights in fairly obvious stages. At first he just sits there and shoots lightning at you. Target each of his three attachments to the ceiling and hit them each one time with the boomerang to end the first stage. The second stage he will spin jellyfish distantly around himself. Simply run past the jellyfish, hit him with the boomerang, draw your sword, and jump-slash. Repeat this until the next stage. Next he will start spinning jellyfish very closely around him. You need to throw the boomerang between the jellyfish (not as easy as it sounds) to cause him to break control of the jellyfish. Then target the individual jellyfish and boomerang them to death one by one. When he's out of jellyfish he will enter his last stage. During this last stage he spins around shooting lightning at you, and sometimes he retreats below the ground where you can't hit him. The times that you can hit him just stun him with the boomerang and then jump-slash him. Repeat until dead. --Ocarina of Time— Now Ruto will try and look seductive in a pathetic sort of way and give you a very shallow compliment. Take her spiritual stone and run. Head back to Hyrule Castle where you will see a cut scene. After the cut scene dive into the water to retrieve the Ocarina of Time, then watch another cut scene and learn the song of time. Now you can go to the temple of time and play the song of time to advance plot. Before doing so make sure you've gotten everything you can so far because you won't be able to come back until you've defeated another dungeon. Here's a list of important things to have done: Learn Epona's Song Plant as many magic beans as possible Get all the heart pieces Sell the bunny ears Get all the possible upgrades Get Din's Fire Bunny Ears: Time to sell those bunny ears. The man that buys them is running around in Hyrule Field. He runs completely around Lon Lon Ranch, always sticking to the path where he can. Just strap on the bunny ears and run (close to the path) clockwise around Lon Lon Ranch during the daytime (if it turns night, play the song of sun). You should eventually meet up with him. When you see him play the song of sun so it becomes night. He'll soon stop running and you can approach him to sell him the bunny ears. He'll fill up your wallet, but when has money ever been a problem anyway? Go give the mask shop guy 50 rupees and then borrow the mask of truth. Deku Nut Upgrade 2: Go to the forest stage and put on the Mask of Truth. The deku scrub on the right will reward you with a higher capacity for deku nuts. You need to do this now if you want to do it at all. There is a bug that makes the deku fire at you instead if you've advanced the plot at all beyond this point. Bomb Bag Upgrade 2: Now head to the Bombchu Bowling mini-game! It's open now so head on inside and give it a try. The prize is random and one of those random prizes is a higher capacity for bombs. The first target is easy… simply stand at center, aim at center, and time it so the sliding thing doesn't hit it. The second one will appear at the left, then the right, and then the center. When it's in the center it's just as easy as the first one. For the left and right you can try two strategies. The first is to simply stand at center and try to angle properly towards the hole, time it right, and throw. I have better luck by standing slightly off center (to the left if it's to the left, to the right if it's to the right) and angling very slightly towards it. Throw when the cucco is in the way because it will move out of the way by the time your bombchu gets there… otherwise it will move in the way by the time the bombchu gets there and the goal is to win, not learn a new form of frying cucco. The last one is really easy if you know how to do it. Stand directly on the right arrow (it's not all the way to the right side!) and aim very slightly left. Sometimes a cucco will get in the way, but that's almost out of your control at this point. Check the below paragraph for additional tips. Piece of Heart 18: You can also win a heart piece from bombchu bowling. The prizes rotate regularly so it'll come up eventually. I'm putting extra tips for bombchu bowling under this section just to avoid the above paragraph from becoming too unwieldy. You'll notice when angling Link that he tends to have 3 degrees of angle. The first is straight ahead, the second is slightly angled (nearly imperceptible), and the third is obviously angled (there are multiple degrees of this, but all are awful). When I say to be slightly angled I'm referring to angle 2. Sometimes when you push the control stick slightly you'll notice Link move a bit, but his angle won't actually change. Trust his angle, not whether or not he moved. There are only 3 types of angles and if, where you're standing, slightly angled is too short and obviously angled is too far then you need to move. I've never been able to properly score when obviously angled, however, so you might try experimenting only with slight angles. If you learn the angles properly, however, the tactics mentioned above for the bomb bag are quite accurate in my experience. You also might want to return to old dungeons with new treasures. The boomerang, bombchus, and song of time are all useful in the Deku Tree. The song of time is useful in Dodongo's Cavern. In the Dodongo's Cavern near the room with the giant stairway is a room with tons of blocks of time. If you play the song of time in front of them they move. This puzzle is tremendously not worth the effort as it only gets you a single gold skulltula. If you want, though, your goal is to uncover the back-left corner. Just stand in front of the block on the far left and play the song of time. Repeat twice more and you should have it. If that doesn't work, just experiment. Stand in front of the block you want moved and play the song and it will move… it's not hard. In the deku tree on the second floor, the room farthest from center, you might notice some boulders near the ceiling above some vines at the far end. Bombchu them and climb the vines for a gold skulltula. In B1 there is a block of time that you might remember. If you play the song of time it will disappear, leaving you with a treasure chest filled with 50 rupees. Magic beans can be planted at Lake Hylia, Gerudo Valley (where you fell), the entrance to Zora's River, the entrance to Dodongo's Cavern, in the lost woods (left, left), also in the lost woods (right, left, right, left, left), in the kokiri forest (behind and to the right of the shop), and in kakariko graveyard. Scarecrow's Song Part 1: Make sure to play Scarecrow's Song for Bonooru the Scarecrow in Lake Hylia. It's just a song you make up, but it cannot be made of all one note. I think the easiest way is to press X alternating with Y just so you can play it as quickly as possible when you need to :) Whenever you're ready proceed with the plot. Be prepared to watch a lot of cut scenes. Pocket Cucco: After all the plot stuff is done, head over to Kakariko Village. Talk to the Cucco lady and she'll give you a pocket cucco egg. The sooner you get it the better since you just have to wait for it to hatch (although the song of sun is always a good shortcut if you need it). Piece of Heart 19: Since you planted a magic bean in Kakariko graveyard when you were little (right?) you can now ride the grown float-y flower thing up to a ledge with a box. Roll-attack the box to reveal the heart piece inside. Pull open the grave nearest to the magic flower (the grave will have plants at its base) and fall down into the hole. You'll now have to race with Dampe the gravekeeper's ghost. There really isn't much advice I can give on the race except to not get hit by the flames (duh) and don't let Dampe out of your sight. You'll be rewarded with the hookshot. Piece of Heart 20: There's only one exit to this room, so take it. Play the song of time in front of the blocks of time and head up the stairs. Jump to the central, spinning platform when it turns into range and then jump from there to the heart piece. Song of Storms: Take out your ocarina in front of Guru-Guru and he'll teach you the Song of Storms, much to his own dismay. Piece of Heart 21: If you're quite good you can race Dampe the gravekeeper again and win a heart piece. The catch is you've got to do it in exactly one minute or less. It's possible, but barely. Most people find it easier to get it after the water temple because they'll have acquired the longshot. The longshot is a longer hookshot that will allow you to hook to a torch near the exit of the final room as soon as you enter the room. That quick burst of speed is all most people need. It is, however, possible to get the heart piece now. I recommend at least trying until you want to club Dampe over the head with his lantern. Then, it's time to move on. Note: Link's roll maneuver (A Button) is actually slightly faster than running. If you can practice it well enough so that you aren't smashing into walls and only use it when you're going straight (even if you aren't going straight for long) it makes this race a lot easier. It's even possible to get the heart piece after being hit by a flame if you've been rolling perfectly the entire time. Weird, eh? Piece of Heart 22: They're everywhere in the ruined world! Head over to Zora's River, ride the flower past all the unpleasant parts, and run up the familiar path into the now-icy Zora's Domain. Run up to the King's room, past the frozen King, and into the Zora's Fountain. Run up to where Jabu-Jabu has been replaced by a large ice ramp. Jump off the end of the ice ramp and navigate the moving ice platforms to the heart piece. --Ice Cave-- I tend to do things out of order as adult link for a number of reasons. I like to get as much stuff as I can before actually progressing plot. Besides, it helps to have near all the heart pieces and the biggoron's sword when going through the forest temple. Anyway, you will want to be heading into the ice cave soon for its free blue flames anyway and it's not too hard to finish once you've gone in far enough to get the blue flames. Well, it's not too hard to finish at all! Since you're already here you might as well hop to it. The first new thing you'll notice (that is to say the first difference in this cave between Master Quest and regular Ocarina of Time) is a large boulder colliding with your head. Well, while it may not collide with your head it caught me off guard and so it collided with mine. In the next room you'll see a few enemies; kill them. If you look over on the right you'll see a perfectly clear, oddly shaped icicle… that's not an icicle. Clever! Hit it with your hookshot to open the way to the next room and proceed on your way. You can slash the icicles in the next hallway if it pleases you (or if you must… I wouldn't know if it's necessary, since I slash them to bits for my own perverse pleasure). It's not recommended that you attempt to slash the icicle in the next hallway, as doing so will cause a large boulder to impact with your skull. In the next room kill all the enemies to open the first exit. This may be more of a challenge than it sounds since the room seems to have a sort of a "blizzard-o-matic" resulting in vague, icy figures skating over to you with icy breath in seemingly endless fashion. They also tend to disappear without much explanation and then skate back to you moments later. Also, you will fight a wolf in here. Use the same strategy as always: block with your shield, and then jump-slash. When everything's dead proceed to the next room. The next room's strategy is similar: kill everything. There are two wolves and a skulltula on the left. Hit the crystal switch semi-hidden on the left side of the room to make the treasure chest appear. You will no doubt take great pleasure in slashing the local icicles to bits, revealing the blue flame behind. Bottle the blue flames (I reserve two bottles for this purpose and leave the third for a fairy), melt the splotch of red ice in the room and collect the map from the thawed treasure chest, refill the blue flames, and head back the way you came. Melt both ice barriers in this room, and then go to the room at the top of the stairway. Kill all the enemies in this room with reckless abandon – you'll be refilling your life soon. Fill up your blue flames and make your way to the treasure chest with the compass in it and claim your compass. Now go take a look at the platform with red ice on it. Look hard enough and you'll notice Navi floating somewhere and turning green. Look at Navi and play the song of time. Jump onto the formed block of time, look left (Navi should be green again) and play the song of time again. Jump onto this new block of time, face the red ice, and melt it. Kill your gold skulltula and go refill blue flames again. Piece of Heart 23: Look for what almost appears to be a white graphical glitch sticking out of the floor. Bomb it to activate the crystal switch, and then go claim your heart piece. Now head out of here and take the other path that you melted the red ice barrier from. At the end of the hallway, before you enter the room, smack the crystal on the upper left with your hookshot if you're interested in a gold skulltula. Doing so will make an ice block disappear on the far left of the room, revealing a skulltula underneath. Now go to the far end of the room (under the blue flame), paying attention to where Navi turns green. Stand in front of Navi and play the song of time to make a block of time appear. Fill up your blue flames; re-smack the crystal in the beginning of the room, and head back over by the gold skulltula. Hop up onto the platform, melt the red ice, refill the blue flame, and exit the room via the new exit. Now you get to fight one of the most fun creatures there is to fight: stalfos. They fight similarly to wolves, but are less predictable. Sometimes they hit you anyway and sometimes you can get a hit off on them even when they should be blocking. It's a fun fight, so enjoy it! :) Afterwards you can pick up the iron boots from the treasure chest and Sheik will teach you the Serenade of Water. Strap on your new boots and dive into the pool of water, then walk through the door. You should recognize where you are soon enough. Exit the cave. Zora's Tunic: Now go thaw King Zora and talk to him for a Zora's Tunic. Might as well put that on. If you like you can use your other blue flame to thaw the Zora shopkeeper, but he's useless anyways. Piece of Heart 24: Head back to Zora's fountain and walk over to the other side of Jabu- Jabu's area (right on the mini-map). Strap on your iron boots and go diving for a heart piece hidden on the bottom of the lake. Piece of Heart 25: Now exit the fountain and play the Serenade of Water to warp to Lake Hylia (the shortcut there is out of commission right now). Walk across the bridges to the mainland, hop onto the magic flower and jump off quickly onto the rooftop. Climb up the ladder here to claim another heart piece. While you're over here you might want to enter the house, strap on your iron boots and sink to the bottom of the mad scientist's pool. Roll-attack the crate there to reveal a gold skulltula, hookshot it to death and collect your token. Golden Scale: You can also ride the magic flower over to the fishing hut (or use the Scarecrow's Song to make Pierre appear up on the island). If you catch a big enough fish you'll get the golden scale as a reward. It helps to try fishing by the log and by the sticks. Personally, I've had better luck by the log because there seems to be less chance of reeling in a puny fish that you didn't want to bite in the first place. It also helps to be standing waist-deep in water when you cast because it'll make catching easier. Fishing waist-deep near the trickle of water at the far end and casting at the log I actually managed a 19-pound fish (enough for a golden scale!) on my first try. I felt… happy :) Scarecrow's Song Part 2: Now is a good time to finish learning the Scarecrow's Song. Go to Bonooru the Scarecrow and play the same song you played for him as a child. You'll now officially know the Scarecrow's Song and can use it to summon Pierre in several places! Piece of Heart 26: With the Golden Scale in your possession you might as well head back to the mad scientist's lab. Dive down all the way to the bottom of his pool, then go talk to him for your heart piece. Piece of Heart 27: These things are everywhere, aren't they? Exit Lake Hylia and climb the ladder. Run the length of the platform and jump off into the middle of the fenced area. Drop a bomb as close to the center as you can and it should reveal a hole. Drop down the hole and defeat a deku scrub; he will sell you a heart piece for 10 rupees. Piece of Heart 28: West of Hyrule Castle there is a lone tree between the river and the path. Bomb the tree to create a hole and then jump down the hole. Dive to the bottom of the water in this hole (or use the iron boots) to claim a heart piece. Epona: Head on over to Lon Lon Ranch. Inside, find Ingo by the gate to the horse pen and pay him 10 rupees to waste a minute of your time. Afterwards pay him another 10 rupees. Now play Epona's Song and she'll come running up to you. Mount her, and then target Ingo from horseback to talk to him. He'll bet you 50 rupees in a race. The trick to the race is to use your carrots VERY sparingly until Ingo moves to the outside of the track. Then use 2 or 3 carrots to burn past him hugging the inside track. He will only actually leave the inside track twice throughout the whole race so once you gain the lead make sure you keep it! Never ever use your last carrot… doing so makes you run incredibly slow for way too long and you'll lose the race nearly every time. You'll have to win 2 races in a row to keep Epona, and then Ingo will lock you in the ranch. After running over several cuccos until a barrage of cuccos begins attacking you (it's hilarious), build up your speed with carrots and charge one of the fences on the outside wall (not the main gate). If you hit it head on and fast enough you'll jump out and Epona is yours. Cojiro: By now your pocket cucco should have hatched. If not, play the song of sun as many times as you need for it to hatch. Ride Epona over to Kakariko Village and enter the house on the left side at the bottom of the stairs. Find Talon sleeping on a bed and use your pocket cucco on him. He'll wake up and you can tell him to go back to the ranch (although that isn't a requirement for getting Cojiro… it just happens to be a convenient time to go through with this step). Now take the pocket cucco to the cucco lady and use it on her. She'll give you Cojiro. Goron Tunic: Head up Death Mountain and into Goron City. On the same level there was before there is now a rolling goron, only this one is much tinier and likes to avoid your bombs… bastard. Bomb him anyway and he'll give you a Goron Tunic. Put it on and head into Darunia's room. Bolero of Fire: You should get this now because it really isn't out of the way and it'll help to get a heart piece later. Additionally, since it warps you to Death Mountain Crater you'll be able to come back the second plot requires it. Anyway, grab the statue in Darunia's room and pull it away from the wall. Enter the passage behind it. You'll want to take the bridge on the left, but it's broken so hookshot to the wooden thingy above it instead. Sheik will appear and teach you the Bolero of Fire. Leave. --Biggoron's Sword-- Odd Mushroom: Head into the lost woods and you'll hear Cojiro crow. That's a subtle hint. Go to where you met the lone skull kid and you'll find a man there now. Use Cojiro on him to get the mushroom. Odd Potion: You have to hurry to the Kakariko potion shop. Your fastest bet is back the way you came: take the shortcut to Goron City, then run out and hurry down Death Mountain (you can even jump down if you like… head right after exiting Goron City). The old hag you need is behind the shop on the left… go through the shop and out its back exit, then jump down and head up the stairs and into the other shop. If the first potion shop is closed (nighttime) just play the song of sun, it won't ruin the mushroom. This isn't a hard race to complete. Broken Saw: Head back to where the guy was in the forest and give a little girl there the medicine in return for the broken saw. Broken Sword: Head out through kokiri forest and back to Hyrule Field. Summon Epona and ride into the Gerudo Valley. Jump over the broken bridge much like you'd jump over a fence. Give the broken saw to the carpenter standing outside there to get the broken sword in return. Prescription: Head all the way up to the top of Death Mountain (over by the fruity fairy) and, instead of entering the crater or the fountain, walk to the right side. A gigantic goron (Biggoron) will pop out. Give him the broken sword and he'll give you the prescription. Eyeball Frog: Be prepared to make the hardest run in the game (don't worry, it's not bad). Before you get started ride Epona to the entrance of kokiri forest. Position her so that she is not going to hit any trees on the way out and is facing outward, hopefully even pointed towards Lake Hylia. Now, head over to Zora's Domain and give the prescription to King Zora. He'll give you the eyeball frog and start the time limit. World's Finest Eyedrops: Immediately head towards Zora's River when the timer starts. From there, dive into the pool on the left and dive into the lost woods. Exit to the left immediately and you'll come out in kokiri forest. Jump down the winding pathways (no need to follow them, just jump!) and exit the forest to the right. You'll come out right by your strategically placed Epona! Hop on and ride like the wind to Lake Hylia. You'll need to jump 2 fences, but you can ride Epona right in and up to the mad scientist's lab. You should have a little time to spare, so turn Epona around to face the exit before dismounting. Then head inside and give the eyeball frog to the mad scientist. Claim Check: Now exit and hop on Epona, there's no time to waste. Ride Epona all the way to Kakariko village. Enter Kakariko and head up to Death Mountain right away. The magic flower comes in very handy here, ride it all the way up as far as it will go and then run through the flaming valley. Target the skulltula on the wall and hookshot it, then wait for a brief moment (this brief wait will prevent a spider from bothering you in a bit) and climb the wall. Shift over to the left and drop onto the platform. Target the nearby skulltula and hookshot it. Hit C Up to switch into first person view and look up at another skulltula so Navi flies over by it and turns yellow. Hit the L Button to target it and hookshot it. Now climb up the rest of the way, run over to the right and give Biggoron his eyedrops. I did this easily with 50 seconds left on the clock. Claim Check Alternative: Head over to Kakariko the same way as in the other method, but don't take the flower as high as it goes. Instead hop off into Goron City. Jump to the bottom and enter the door behind the statue in Darunia's room. Head right from there and jump off the edge of the cliff just a hair to the right of the boulder blocking the proper path. As long as you're not too far to the right of the boulder and you're facing the exact proper direction you should make the jump. Climb up from here, exit the crater and you'll be right next to Biggoron without having to deal with falling rocks! Biggoron's Sword: Play the song of sun six times (make sure you hear the crow/howl each time before playing it again) and then give biggoron his claim check to take your sword. You just got yourself the best sword in the game. Woo! --Forest Temple-- Now that you've gotten the proper sword it's time to progress the plot. Head into the lost woods from Goron City and go left. Mido will be blocking your path, so play him Saria's Song. Then make your way to the Sacred Forest Meadow. You'll have to stab giants in the ass with your new sword to make your way through the maze this time. You might also need to shoot them in the ass with your hookshot. Do so. Eventually you'll make your way up to the forest temple. Stop at the fairy fountain and fill all your bottles with fairies before heading up the stairs. You'll have to deal with a giant thing that has a club. Just zigzag your running and he shouldn't hit you. Jump-slash with biggoron's sword when you get close enough and he'll die quickly enough. Now Sheik will teach you the Minuet of Forest. You'll need to hookshot a branch thingy to get into the forest temple itself. Do that, and then enter the temple. Hookshot 2 skulltulas on the right then start climbing. You'll have to sneak past a skulltulas or two, but it's not too hard. Climb up and then drop off onto a tree on the left. Hookshot the remaining two skulltulas from here and then look for a big skulltula; hookshot him, too. Then jump off onto the other tree, step on the switch, then hookshot to the treasure chest that appeared and grab the key from it. In the next room, don't waste your time with the big skulltulas. Simply hookshot them and they're dead. Collect the gold skulltula to the left of the door if you like and head through the door. Head through the door on the very far end at the top of the stairs. Play the song of time in front of the block of time to make it disappear, then go through another door. Here you'll fight two wolves. The strategy with biggoron's sword is a bit different. Instead of blocking with your shield, simply dodge when they attack and then strike them. They're easy to predict so dodging is never a problem and they won't last long against the might of your monster sword. Your reward for dispatching them is a key. Head back to the main room. There's only one more door you can go through right now that you haven't, so go through it. Take joy in killing a stalfos, and then enter the room and head up a couple ladders. Pull the first block you see so it is even with the hallway that leads to the other block. Then push it into that hallway, but not all the way. Now go through the newly opened hall, around, and behind the other block. Push the block as far as it will go and you will hear the Zelda noise. Now go back to the first block and look around, you should be able to find another ladder. Go up and look around for a block. Pull that block as far as it will go. Now go back to the block that gave you a Zelda noise and climb on top of it. Climb up and you'll see yet another block. Push it as far as it will go and you will be treated to another Zelda noise. Climb up and smack the crystal switch. Find a nearby ladder and climb it. Don't take out your sword. You actually must hit these enemies with your shield. Target them, hit the R Button, and then run into them. Then take out your sword and kill them. If you stand still for a moment or two you can put your sword away again with the A Button and go about killing the other blue flaming skull here. When you're done go through the door and its following hallway. In this room jump to the bottom and grab the boss key while you're here. Then jump down the hole, kill the hand and kill the resulting handlings to unlock the door. Exit. Follow the ledge to the right and enter the door on the right. Play the song of sun to freeze the re-dead and a single jump-slash from biggoron's should do him in. You will earn a key for your efforts. Exit this room and enter the other door. Hit the crystal switch and then use whatever method you wish you reach the top of the room (you can now make it up by using the hookshot and newly formed ice platforms). Go through the now twisty hallway and into the room beyond. Navigate the platforms and exit this room through the locked door. Go to the bottom of the next area and enter the door. You will now face off with a stalfos. Take joy in killing him. A large platform will then lower and you will face two stalfos! It's joygasmic! The biggoron's sword really helps here because if one of the two stalfos stays dead too long he will reanimate, completely ruining the effort you spent killing him. Since biggoron's kills things quicker it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why it would help in this situation. After this mini- boss fight claim your bow & arrow (double joy!) and exit the way you came in (the door with the red carpet). Find the picture of a ghost and shoot it with an arrow from a distance. Do this twice more. Now head to the bottom of the room and kill the ghost because it is pathetic. Simply avoid it until it materializes, then jump-slash it with biggoron's. 2 hits do it in. You will be rewarded with a map. Now head back into the stalfos room and exit the blue carpet door. Repeat the same process you did for the other ghost and you'll earn a compass. Now go all the way back to the center room. The room on the back right (looking as you first entered) has an eye above the doorway. Shoot it with an arrow, and then go through the door. Kill the enemies in the next room and then go to the left. Look for areas where Navi floats high in the sky and turns green (there are 2 such areas). Play the song of time to make a block of time appear in midair. Go back to the door you came in through and hookshot the gold skulltula above it. Now hookshot yourself up to it and pull yourself up. Jump across the blocks of time and stop on the last one. Hookshot the skulltula on the wall, then jump or hookshot onto the wall and climb over to the right balcony. Get the key there, then hookshot over to the other balcony and go through the door. Hookshot the big skulltula then go behind the torch on the left. Fire an arrow through the flame and into the web. Wasn't that fun? Now turn around and go back the way you came. Jump down to the bottom and head over by the well. Look carefully and you'll see an eye. Shoot it with an arrow, then go down the well and get the treasure chest for a key. Now head all the way back to where you got the bow, exit that room via the blue carpet door and exit the door at the top of the room. There's only one available exit to this room, so take it. Run down the hallway and through the locked door at the end of it. Jump to a moving pillar and then to the platform on the right. Pick up the crate and then jump to another moving pillar and to the center from there. Set the crate on the switch. Now you'll have to shoot the frozen eye with an arrow, but the arrow will have to pass through the lit flame on the way. When you succeed remove the crate from the switch and then exit the room. Now that this room is turned there is a new exit in the floor. Drop down the hole. Beware of big skulltulas in this room. You need to step on the switches on the ground (one of them creates a treasure chest with arrows that you might need) and then exit via the right exit. This will take you to a small island you couldn't get to before. The treasure chest on that island contains a key. If you don't have enough blocks to climb up, play the song of time. You'll need to have three blocks total to make it back up. If you're standing on a block when you play the song of time that block can't disappear. Now, back in the room with the dropping ceiling, head towards the locked door at the far end and go through it. In the next room you'll need to shoot the painting with an arrow and then try and move the blocks so that they form a picture of the green ghost. This will cause the green ghost to attack you, so kill him because he is pathetic. When you're done head back into the main room to fight the purple ghost. The ghost can't be fought normally, but there is a trick. It will split into 4 (three of them are fake) and begin circling you. When it splits watch the images closely: the real one will spin after it forms. Target that one and hit it with an arrow (it's possible to hit with the hookshot, but only if you've got your timing down good). Repeat until dead. Take the elevator down into the basement. Imagine this room from a bird's eye view. You'll push on one of the two walls to turn it in a clockwise direction. Each one or two times you push it a new room will be accessible. Explore the rooms as they become available. One room will have a crystal switch on the ceiling above the entrance; hit it and step on the switch inside. Eventually the boss room (straight up on the mini-map) will be open, but there will be bars blocking the way. Another room comes available at the same time so head in there, turn around, look up and shoot the eye with an arrow. The boss room is now open to you. Head into the center of the boss room, then try and leave to activate the boss fight. This boss fights in two stages. First he and a 'fake' will come out of the paintings. The real one is far more detailed (that's how you tell the difference). Wait for it to start to come out of the painting, the shoot it with an arrow and it will run back into the painting. Repeat this a few times until his next form. He loses the horse and floats instead. He'll shoot magic balls at you and you'll have to bat them back (much like Agahnim from A Link to the Past). Try and time it so the tip of your sword will collide with the ball. Once a ball finally hits him you'll have to slash him. Jump-slash as many times as you have time for. With the biggoron's sword it will only take 3 jump-slashes to finish him off. --Gerudo's Fortress-- Head over to the Gerudo Fortress. You'll want to enter the door on the far left (as you look at the complex) first. If you get caught, don't worry. Just hookshot out. Arrows work nicely to temporarily subdue guards so you can get around. In the first door there's nothing much to worry about. Just talk to the guy in the cell, kill the guard, pick up the key, unlock the door, and talk to the guy again. Then exit out the opposite way you came in. Head into the door on the left. Keep using arrows to subdue any guards that get in your way. You want to go into the main room, up the stairs on the left and out. From there jump off to the right and go into the only door around. Talk to the guy in the cell, kill the guard, pick up the key, unlock the cell, and talk to the guy. Exit the same way you came in and climb up some vines to get back to where you were. Enter the door straight ahead of you. Talk to the guy in the cell, kill the guard, pick up the key, unlock the cell, and talk to the guy. Exit the same way you came in and enter the door on the right. Use the hookshot on the wooden support beams near the ceiling and you can avoid wasting arrows on the guards (unless, of course, you want to shoot them… because it's terribly fun). Exit out at the top of the right stairway this time. Jump off to the right and enter the door. Subdue the guard with an arrow. Talk to the guy in the cell, kill the guard, pick up the key, unlock the cell, and talk to the guy. A Gerudo woman will talk to you and now you'll be welcome all over the fortress. Piece of Heart 29: Head over to the Gerudo Fortress and climb to the very top. Navi will fly out and turn green. Play the scarecrow's song and Pierre will appear on the far side. If you stand on the very edge of the ledge here you can hookshot to Pierre. Some people think this requires the longshot; it doesn't. Open the treasure chest on the other side for the heart piece. Piece of Heart 30: Go get Epona and ride around the hill, past the fortress, and over to the right of the fortress. While on Epona talk to the lady (it must be daytime) and play the horseback archery mini-game. Getting over 1,000 points gets you a heart piece. Quiver Upgrade 1: Play the horseback archery game again and get over 1,500 points for a quiver upgrade. Quiver Upgrade 2: Now take Epona into Hyrule Field. It's a good time to get your fourth bottle by collecting 10 big poes. When you run out of arrows just head into Kakariko Village and play the arrow game until you earn the next quiver upgrade – it will automatically fill your quiver to 50 arrows. Bottle 4: To get the fourth bottle you must capture the 10 big poes (as stated above). The poes are listed below, but there are a couple of handy tricks for capturing them. First of all, definitely do not be running at full speed because it makes archery difficult. Some people prefer to actually chase the poe and waste a lot of arrows (it's easier). Personally I prefer standing at the poe's spawn point and watching it keep spawning. It doesn't matter if it's day or night, if you're standing on the exact right spot he will appear directly ahead of you. If you're standing still you will only have time to fire 2 arrows, but if both hit you've got him! You have to wait a tiny moment before shooting the second because the poe is invulnerable for a short time after he's hit. Remember that the poe will appear directly ahead of you, so be sure you're not facing any walls or he'll move inside of it when he spawns (or even spawn right in the wall). Needless to say make sure you've got an empty bottle when you kill one so you can be sure to not waste your arrows, time, and patience. Like other poes you can't actually swoosh your bottle at it to capture it, just walk up to it and say 'yes' and it'll be auto-captured. As a final note… wouldn't it be really helpful if this just gave you a heart piece and you could wait until you had all 4 bottles to get it? Then you'd only need to make 3 trips to the ghost shop instead of 4. Bah. 1: He's at the sign outside of Hyrule Castle. Easiest when facing directly away from Hyrule Castle. 2: He's at the tree near Lon Lon Ranch. Easiest when facing left from the Lon Lon ranch exit. 3: Go to the overhang above Zora River, near Kakariko Village. Turn around and walk forward a few steps, then wait. This one is definitely best done while still. 4: Follow the Kokiri side of the wall between Kokiri Forest and Lon Lon Ranch. It's at the angle in the wall. 5: The gray rock along the path going left out of Kokiri Forest. Just follow the path and you'll find it. 6: A bush near the left side of the river West of Hyrule Castle. It's the third bush to the right of the wall. Stand on top of the bush. 7: The tree near where the road splits around gerudo valley. 8: Where the road splits around gerudo valley. If you see that the actual split has 2 "corners" he's at the South West corner. 9: Go towards the trees to the E when exiting the Lake Hylia area. Stand on the closest bush. From there you can see two bushes relatively close together. Aim at the closest tree that's past (but between) those two bushes and walk between those two bushes at that angle. It's a lot harder to describe than it is to find. 10: Near Poe 9 is a tree West of the other trees that has green leaves. Next to that tree are some bushes. Between the tree and the bushes is where the poe spawns. There is no easily identifiable "spot" so just play with it. Prelude of Light: Now it's time to go change back into a kid. Return to the temple of time and go to place the master sword back into its pedestal. Sheik will appear and teach you the Prelude of Light. When that's done, place the sword back and become a kid again. Now is as good a time as any to go plant a new magic bean. Play the Bolero of Fire, quickly plant a bean in the nearby soil, and then play the Serenade of Water. At Lake Hylia you'll want to go learn the Scarecrow's Song. Head over to the far right of the shore and play a song for Bonooru the scarecrow. Strangely enough it seems like Nintendo didn't like players simply pressing all one note for the scarecrow's song, so you'll actually have to compose a melody to remember. What a pain. Since X and Y are C Right and C Left respectively, I just hit them alternating so I can play the stupid song as quickly as possible when I need to :p Piece of Heart 31: Head through the shortcut to Zora's Domain. Exit to Zora's River and head over to the area with the frogs. Play them the song of storms and you'll get a heart piece. Piece of Heart 32: You can get this by playing all the songs you know for the frogs in Zora's River. Each time you play a song one of them will get bigger. When they are all big take out your Ocarina and they'll ask you to play to they catch bugs. The combination is A, Left, Right, Down, Left, Right, Down, A, Down, A, Down, Right, Left, A. Gold Skulltulas: If you like you can play the prelude of light and head into Hyrule Castle to start doing the skulltula trick. Now is as good a time as any. I detail the skulltula trick very early in the walkthrough, under the 'Tips & Tricks' section. Giant's Wallet: Since you've gotten at least 50 skulltulas now you can go get the giant's wallet from one of the kids in the skulltula house in Kakariko Village ;) Piece of Heart 33: While you're there, pick up your other rewards including the heart piece you get for the fiftieth skulltula! :) --Lens of Truth-- Now is as good a time as any to get this terrible item. Head into the windmill in Kakariko Village and play the song of storms to drain the water from the well. Go down to the bottom of the well and crawl into this terrible dungeon. Blech… I hate illusions. I was never the greatest in this dungeon. I really don't think I can tell you the shortest way through, but I'll try. First head left (when you get a chance) and enter a very small room on the right. Use a bomb or bombchu to blow up the boulder revealing an eye. Shoot the eye with the slingshot to open a door… somewhere…. Walk down the hallway all the way to the left and it will wind around until you're standing on a giant triforce symbol. Hit the crystal switch in the weird statue's right arm to drain the water. Then play Zelda's Lullaby to open several large doors. Go through the closest of those doors to claim the map. Watch out for falling hands! Fire a slingshot bullet at the crystal switch in this room to light a flame and open its nearby door. Now might be a good time to use Farore's Wind so you can warp out of the pit when fall accidentally. Go through the door that just opened and position yourself in a straight line with the closest pot. Walk towards it then break it so you can get past. Repeat this for the next two pots and then go claim the key. Try to make your way back. If you fall, just use Farore's Wind to warp back out again. Remember, if you return to your warp point you have to cast the spell again to re-make that warp point. Now you could do a bunch of other stuff to get some gold skulltulas, but you've got the skulltula trick so who cares? Instead go back to where you drained the water and head down the hallway to the right. Crawl through a hole at the end of it then shoot the picture on the wall in the right eye with the slingshot. The door will open. Ignore the hand in this room, just run past and use your key to unlock the door and go through. Blow up the junk in the corner with a bomb and step on the switch underneath. Note: If you used the key on the wrong door (because you aren't using this walkthrough every step of the way and I encourage that!) the other key in this dungeon can be found near the entrance of the dungeon after you've drained the water. You'll need to drop down into a large hole, crawl through a tiny hole in the wall, climb up and enter a room and then (finally) defeat a boss. There should be a key in this room (you can find it by bombing the junk with a red gashes in it that's all over the corners). Now make your way back to where you got the map. Drop down the newly opened hole here. Step the nearby switch and a treasure chest will appear somewhere else. That somewhere else is on the lower right of the mini-map currently showing. Go there! It is guarded by 5 (or so) re-dead; play the song of sun so you can safely ignore them. If you really want to fight them… I'll laugh at your corpse. Run past them and grab the lens of truth from the treasure chest, then Farore's Wind outta there! Leave this dungeon now because there's no longer a purpose to be in it. I hate this dungeon. Piece of Heart 34: Now is as good a time as any to cheat at the treasure chest game! Head to Hyrule Castle. If it isn't nighttime play the song of sun. Then enter the treasure chest game and use the lens of truth to see what's in the treasure chests. Needless to say it's easy to pick the key every time :) This heart piece is so easy it almost makes up for the lens of truth dungeon. Scarecrow's Song: Return to the temple of time and pick up the master sword to become an adult again. Warp to Lake Hylia and go take out your ocarina in front of Bonooru. Play the same song you played in the past and you'll learn the scarecrow's song. Piece of Heart 35: Play the Bolero of Fire (make sure you put on your Goron Tunic) and hop onto the magic flower. It will take you high up into the crater. Look around for a heart piece and jump at it to claim it. --Fire Temple-- Enter the temple from inside Death Mountain Crater. Head to the center of the stairs (a flame blocks the bottom, so you'll have to climb up from the side) and use Din's Fire at the top of the stairs (it should light both faces that are unlit as well as the torches behind you). Proceed through the newly opened door. After the cut scene jump over two platforms to the right and then hookshot to the next platform. Roll attack all the boxes around here and you'll uncover another torch at the top. Stand on the middle "step" and use Din's Fire to light the two torches on this side. Jump down next to the lower torch and stand so you can fire an arrow at the torch across the room but still have it lit on fire. You'll have to try and fire the arrow just to the right of the lit torch. Be quick or the flames will go out and you'll need to use more magic. When you succeed the gate across the room will open. Go over there and open the treasure chest inside to get a key. Take the key into the front room and drop off to the left of the stairs. Go through the locked door. Inside kill the keese on the left quickly and then draw your sword to deal with the two stalfos (joygasmic!). When they're dead the door to the next room will open. Make sure your sword is put away when you enter the next room. Hold the L Button and the R Button and simply wait for 5 floor tiles to break themselves on your shield. Then go pick a fight with the iron knuckle at the far side of the room. Your sword has better reach than he does so this should be terribly easy. Jump-slashes as well as thrusts are effective. Kill him because he is an ass. Then the door to the next room will open. In this room there is a mini-boss. When he leaps out of the flames target him, take out a bomb, and toss it at him. He'll blow up and become a teeny little thing. Take out your sword, target it, and jump-slash it. It will quickly run away from you so run the opposite direction (don't release targeting) and then jump-slash it when it comes close. If you don't it'll run in the opposite direction and you'll have to go around again. After you hit it twice (regardless of strength, so make sure it's a jump-slash! You can also hit it with a charged sword spin attack) it will jump back into the fire and reform. Just target it again, bomb it, jump-slash, etc…. Repeat until dead. Your reward is the Megaton Hammer. Alternate Strategy: Target the mini-boss and get close to him. Hit him with the hookshot and you'll yank the bomb section straight out of the flames. Smack it and it will jump back in the flames. Repeat until dead. Exit through the door you didn't enter from. There's a switch on the ground that needs to be hit with a hammer. *thwack* The gate will open. Take the map from the treasure chest, then talk to the goron and he'll leave. Exit out the opposite direction and you'll be in the first room. Magic Upgrade: While you're out here, you might as well exit the dungeon to get something important. Leave, hookshot across the broken bridge, and then run across the non-broken bridge. Look to the right and hit the boulders there with the hammer. Inside is a fruity fairy fountain that doubles your magic power. Now, re-enter the temple, head to the top of the stairs and use the hammer on the statue in front of the right door three times. Enter the door. Make your way over to the left side of the room and through the door there. Hit the switch with the hammer and talk to the goron. Exit and head over to the block-platform near the wall on the left. When standing on the platform it will rise upward. Jump off into a little niche in the wall. Use Din's Fire to light the torch there, and then break the pot to collect a bit of magic back. Now fire an arrow through the torch into the torch on the right side of the room to unlock the door. Do the same for the torch on the WAY left of the room (it's a pretty difficult shot) and several hookshot pillars will appear. One such pillar will appear near the door you just unlocked. Jump off and make your way over there, using the hookshot to pull yourself up. Go through that door. Use your shield to break the tiles that fly at you. When they're finished hookshot over to the torch on the other side of the flames and grab the boss key. Hookshot back over again and exit the room. Make your way over to the other side of the room and hookshot to the torch on that side (I know, it doesn't look like one you can hookshot to… but you can). Bomb the doorway and enter the door behind. Walk up next to the unlit torch on the right side of the room and use Din's Fire to open the gate. Talk to the goron, get the key from the treasure chest, and leave. Now go through the locked door on the right side of the room. Slide down the little thingy in this room (wheeeee!). Climb up on the top of the fence. Walk carefully over to one of the horizontal parts and walk onto that. Jump from there onto one of the lower platforms. Watch the block carefully for a little bit. You'll want to jump on, but you can't while it's on the ground (the flames rise too high – you'll get thrown off). Wait for when it's on its way up and jump onto it at that moment. It will take you up into another room with one exit. Use that exit. Climb up on the left of this room and use Din's Fire next to the weird looking torch. Hookshot over to the other platform and climb on top of the hookshot pillar. Use it to climb up to the top. Kill the lizalfos here because it is pathetic, then climb up the fence and exit out the door. Go to the top (according to the mini-map) of this room and listen for combat music. Where you hear it look closely at the wall. You can hit the wall with your sword to tell where it's fake if you like, but it's easier to just run smack up against it and look for the little yellow arrow identifying the skulltula behind :) Bomb the wall, kill the skulltula because it is pathetic, and hit the switch with the hammer. Tons of hookshot pillars will appear. Hookshot your way up on one of them and look for the platform with a large crack in the ground. Make your way over to it and bomb it, then climb down. Break the boxes in this area until you find a switch, and then hit it with your hammer to open the gates. Take the compass from the treasure chest, and then walk out of the small tunnel you're currently in. The lizalfos in the room should notice you and jump down soon enough and then you can kill it because it is pathetic. Climb back out the way you came in. If you want a gold skulltula: Once out climb on top of the nearby hookshot pillar and play the song of time. Hop onto the block of time that forms and hookshot from there onto a new, higher platform. Turn around and hookshot to yet another platform. This platform will rise into the next room. Go through the door into the next room. Hookshot the weird face on the wall to open the door at the top of the room. Climb up to the top of the room and go through the door. Now make your way around the room and hit the switch next to the flames to create a hookshot pillar. Now go step on the switch near the door and quickly hookshot up to the new pillar you've created. Run over to the block, grab it, and PULL it out of the flames. Now hookshot the spider to death through the flames and grab his token with the hookshot. Now head back to the room where this paragraph started (the room with the block of time you created). This next part actually has a few different ways that can be done that I will list in order of ease. Near the wall you bombed earlier is another bombable wall (to the left as you face the previously bombed wall). Find it and bomb it. Easiest way: Step on the switch and quickly open the nearby door. This actually works ;) Less easy way: Alternatively, you can head over to the opposite side of the room on the tops of the platforms. You'll see some bars there. Hit the crystal switch behind the grate with an arrow (you may have to aim carefully, but an arrow actually works). If you can't get it to work… Least easy way: Toss a bomb so that it explodes just as it passes the crystal switch. The bars will open and you'll be able to grab a small crate inside. Take the crate back across the room and set it onto the switch to open the door. Walk through the door there, step on a switch, talk to the goron, and take the key. Back in the previous room is a locked door on the upper level; go through it. Run over to the left and jump up onto the bars. Fall down into the cage, run to the other side, and then hookshot to the crate to get out. Pick up a little box, jump back into the cage and set the box down on the switch to light the torches. Hookshot out again and go by the two torches. From the center face the torch closest to the cage. Move pretty close to it and slightly off its center to the left, and then look up. You should be lined up properly to fire an arrow through the torch flame and into the unlit torch above. If you do so correctly the door will open. Hookshot to the crate on the platform with the door and exit out the door. Jump across the block of time and onto the ring surrounding the pillar with a weird face. Smack the weird face with your hammer to make it fall. Jump down if you don't want gold skulltulas. If that's the case, skip the next several paragraphs. Jump off to the side (not down the hole) and navigate the flame maze to a door. Go through the door (inside you can kill a gold skulltula on the other side of a wall if you bomb it) and then through another door. Here you'll want to navigate around, step on the switch, and then run up onto the platform. Head inside for another mini-boss fight. Use the same strategy as last time. Afterwards, step on the platform in the middle. As soon as it starts to move jump off. Where it used to be is a key; take it. When the platform comes back down get on it and ride it upward this time. Go through the door at the top. Navigate to the top of this room and again go through the door at the top. Take your hammer to the face block on the left. Navigate to the top of this room and then find a spot where Navi glows green. Play the scarecrow's song to make Pierre appear. Jump down to the bottom and press a switch. Quickly hookshot to Pierre and open the treasure chest for a key. Now go to the beginning of the room and drop down the hole you created earlier. Go through the door. In this room you get to kill 2 stalfos (joygasmic!!). Then smack the face pillar with your hammer to create stairs. Halfway down take out your hookshot and shoot the weird face on the wall in the eyes to open the door at the bottom. Go through. Kill the gold skulltula in here and grab its token, then smack the block with your hammer and dive down after it. Jump up onto the nearby platform, look to the right of the door and play the song of time. Jump onto the block of time and off into the flame maze. Navigate to the door over here for yet another gold skulltula. To get out head left when you leave the door and play the song of time where Navi turns green. Jump up onto the block of time and jump over the flame wall. Now jump down the pit where you knocked the giant pillar. Once down here head through the boss door to face Volvagia. When he pops out of a hole hit him in the head with a hammer. He'll reel a bit and then flop on the ground. Jump- slash his head. Then he'll fly around for a while and be a general nuisance so stay away from him. At this point you can fire arrows if you like or actually head for the edge of the platform and climb down it! You can hide down there to avoid being hit by falling rocks. After he returns to the ground he'll start the process all over again. Repeat until dead. --Water Temple-- There's not much else to do until you get the longshot so play the Serenade of Water and put on your Zora's Tunic. Run to the North side of the island and jump off into the water. Sink to the bottom with the iron boots, then turn around and hit the crystal switch with your hookshot to open the gate. Enter. Unequip the iron boots and pull yourself out of the water. Jump into the water and put the iron boots on again right away. When you're at the bottom walk through the hallway (there's only one) and activate the cut scene. Then take off your boots and float to the top. Play Zelda's Lullaby in front of the triforce symbol to change to water level 1. Now use Din's Fire to light 4 hard to see torches. This will open the door here. Go through the door and fight 3 stalfos simultaneously (the ultimate joygasm!). When they're dead (*sniff*) hit the picture in the back with the hookshot to make a treasure chest with the map appear. Get your map, then head back to where you met Ruto. Use Din's Fire between the two torches to open the door. Inside hit the picture with the hookshot (hit it higher up) and walk close to activate two lizalfos. Kill them because they are pathetic. A treasure chest will appear; take the compass from it. Exit. Find the door on the central pillar and enter. Walk all the way to the wall, turn around, and look up. Hookshot up to the platform and play Zelda's Lullaby to change the water level (water level 2). Make your way to the door on the other side and exit. Jump into the water and put on your iron boots. Go back to where you met Ruto and take off the iron boots to float to the middle level. Hit the picture on the back wall with the hookshot to make a treasure chest appear. Take the longshot from the treasure chest and jump back in the water. Put on the iron boots, exit, and take off the iron boots to float to the surface. Enter the middle room. Use the longshot to make your way to the top of the room. Once there, face towards the center and play the Song of Time to create a block of time. Now exit the room. Enter the room without a grate in front of it. Make your way to the top and pick up a crate. Make your way to the bottom again being careful to not lose the crate. Jump across from the side to the middle with the crate (the jump must be absolutely perfect or you'll lose the crate). Walk around the middle and set the crate down on the switch. Enter the door that opens. Break the box to the left to reveal a crystal switch. Hit the crystal switch to make a hookshot block appear. Wander over near it and kill the lizalfos because he is pathetic. Then hookshot up to the next room. Exit the room and play Zelda's Lullaby in front of the Triforce symbol to raise the water to water level 3. Dive into the water and run into the middle wall. Put on your iron boots so that you're on level 2 underwater. Enter the door into the middle room. Take off your iron boots to float to the surface. Hop on the block of time and use Din's Fire. Put on your iron boots, drop to the bottom level and through the grate that just opened. Walk around the perimeter of the room. Jump onto the brown steps to reveal a crystal switch. Activate the crystal switch with your hookshot to open a grate. Walk over to the grate and use your hookshot to enter another room. Hookshot the frame on the wall to make a treasure chest appear. Get a key from inside the treasure chest. Exit all the way back to outside the middle room on the top floor. Use your key to open the locked door and go through. Jump down onto the moving platform. Turn around, and hookshot the crystal switch above the doorway to make other hookshot blocks appear. Hookshot to the upper block on the left side. The goal is to line yourself up with the block below it so you fall on it. From there, hookshot the left picture on the wall to raise up another hookshot pillar. Hookshot to the raised pillar and pull yourself up onto it. From there, pull yourself up onto the ledge and exit through the door. Jump down into the bottom of the room to fight three stalfos (extra joygasmic!). Hookshot your way up to the top of the room and exit. Head for the exit in this room, then double back to fight Dark Link. The easiest way to beat him is to lock on and continually thrust at him with Biggoron's Sword. When he's dead, you'll be able to exit the room. In the next room, you will have to navigate a series of hookshot platforms. As you make your way through the room, pay attention for Gold Skulltula noises. In the next room, strap on your iron boots and sink to the bottom of the water. Hookshot up to the niche in the wall. Go to the back of the niche and hookshot upward again. Use Din's Fire to light the torches. Then exit the room out of the door you just entered. Hit the crystal switch on your right. Wait for a moment, then jump onto the water pillar and use Din's Fire to open the gate. Claim your Boss Key. Use the Iron Boots to exit behind the treasure chest. You will need to take off the boots to float upward, then put the iron boots back on to activate a switch. This will take you back into the main room. Use the hookshot to proceed upward on the minimap. In the next room use the hookshot to activate a crystal switch above the boss door. This will raise hookshot pillars that you can use to reach the boss door. Morpha is a very disturbing-looking creature. He is unfortunately very similar to a portion of male anatomy. Lock onto him and stand still for long enough for him to try to reach out and hit you. When the ball portion enters the shaft portion is a good time to hit it with the hookshot. Doing so with bring it out of the water, where you can target it and jump-slash it. Repeat until dead. Fire Arrows: When you get out, run over to the stone on the right side of the island and play the Song of Sun twice (so that the sun is rising up). Shoot the rising sun with an arrow, and then swim over to the island to claim your fire arrows. --Spirit Temple Part 1-- Head into Gerudo Valley and go to the far side. Climb up a ladder there and talk to a Gerudo to open the gate. Go through the gate and enter the desert. When you come to the huge river of sand hookshot to a crate on the other side. Then walk towards the nearest flagpole, look for the next nearest flagpole and walk towards that. Repeat this until you get to a small building. Head down into it if you want a gold skulltula and/or rupees. Otherwise go around and up it and use the lens of truth to reveal a ghost. Follow the ghost as closely as possible, ignoring any enemies along the way. He will lead you to the Desert Colossus. Inside smash rocks on the left and right side of the stairs with a hammer to get white rupees (although you don't need to do that yet). Bomb a rock behind the statue on the right (you'll have to go up the stairs) to reveal an eye. Shoot the eye with an arrow to make a treasure chest appear. Get a key from the treasure chest. Look up to see a weird rock on the ceiling; use a bombchu to destroy it. Now exit the temple, you've done all you can (or… should) for now. Sheik will teach you the Requiem of Spirit. Before you leave you should follow the left wall to 2 palm trees. There is a crack in the wall there, so bomb it. Inside is a fruity fairy that gives you Nayru's Love. Now warp back to the Temple of Time and change back into a kid. As a kid warp to the Desert Colossus. Here you can plant your last magic bean near the temple entrance. Go inside once you have done so. Approach the Gerudo and tell her, "Nothing, really." I also always say, "What if I am?" :) When she's done talking head through the crawl hole. You'll need to kill both thingies in the room. I just stun them with a deku nut to put out their flame and then jump-slash them to death (you have to jump-slash them to hurt them anyways). When they're dead shoot the eye far above with the slingshot and refill your life. Go into the room on the right. Use the song of sun to help kill the gibdo, and then pull the grave on the right and step on a switch. Line yourself up with the slot in the wall and send a bombchu down the pit; it will come out the other side and blow up a boulder, revealing an eye. Hit the eye with the slingshot to make a platform appear. Jump across using the platform and use the song of sun to help kill the remaining two gibdo. When they are dead the door will open and you can proceed to the next room. Now you'll have to fight a stalfos on a rotating platform with flames around it. Normally I would love this, but he tends to block abnormally frequently. I did my best, gave up, and forced him off the edge into a pit. The door opened. When you manage to get the door open go through it. Use Din's Fire to kill the strange thing that mirrors you, and then kill all the keese (good slingshot aim helps) to make a treasure chest appear. Open the chest and take your key. Pull the grave and step on the switch it reveals to drop the fence into a bridge. Take the map from the treasure chest. Now head back into the main room yet again and send a bombchu down the tiny hole. Crawl through the hole to the other side. Go through the locked door and hit the crystal switch on the other side. Careful! It will make a like-like drop down. Use the boomerang to help kill it. When its dead climb up the wall and kill everything in the room (including the beamos). Get the bombchu and use it to bomb the suspicious boulder in the wall full of boulders. A treasure chest will appear that you can't get yet. Use the key you got as an adult to exit the locked door. In this room shoot the eye off to the left with your slingshot to make a treasure chest appear. Grab the compass from the chest. Go to the middle door in this room and use Din's Fire to melt and activate the eye switch. Go through the door. Walk up to the edge of the pit in this room and slingshot the eye on the left of the pit to make a treasure chest appear. Grab the key from the treasure chest and head back to the previous room. Now go up the stairs. At the top of the stairs turn around completely and jump off the edge onto a block of time below. While standing on that block of time face the door you first came in through and play the song of time to make another block of time appear. Pick up the crate, jump to the other block of time, then jump to the platform with the door you came in from. Take the crate upstairs and put it down. Play the song of time to create yet another block of time, pick up the crate, and take it across the gap with you. Jump down onto the statue's hand with a switch and set the crate down on the switch. Now exit the room through the door you just opened. Try not to get too crispified in this next room and head through the door at its end. The best thing to do here is to kill the bouncy skulls first, because they're a pain. Try and predict where they're going to jump to and duck there with your hylian shield. When their flames go out you'll have to jump-slash them to hurt them at all; two jump-slashes will kill them. When they're dead the object will be to put blocks with suns on them into the sunlight. There are really only two blocks you care about. One opens the door and the other will create a platform that you can hookshot to in order to get the gold skulltula as an adult (if you care). Gauging directions from where you entered the room the block to the immediate left of the crystal switch is the skulltula block. The block to the immediate right of the crystal switch will drop a treasure chest with a heart in it (not a heart piece or a heart container, just a measly heart). The block in front of that block will open the exit door. If you're after the skulltula you'll need to put the proper block close to the flames, hit the crystal switch, then pull or push the block through to its place. When you're satisfied exit the room through the new exit. The best way to kill the big skulltula in this room is to stun him with the boomerang and run past. You actually don't need to kill him, but if you want to just turn around and pelt him with a couple slingshot bullets. Head through the locked door when you're ready. Now you have to fight an iron knuckle. Don't worry it's really easy. Prod it with your sword to begin. Target it and approach, waiting for it to attack. When it does, back flip to avoid its attack, then immediately jump-slash. It will keep slamming the ground with its axe for a really long time, each time getting hit with a jump-slash. Eventually some of its armor will break off and it will sometimes strike downward with its axe (just jump-slash it like before) and sometimes strike horizontally. If it strikes horizontally it will swing a second time, so wait for the second swing to clear before jump-slashing it. If you simply follow the back flip, jump-slash strategy you'll actually gain life in this fight (especially if it breaks a column). When its dead head through the exit door. Exit the temple, try and put up with the blathering friggin' owl, and open the treasure chest for the silver gloves. After the cut scene warp back to the temple of time and become an adult. Piece of Heart 36: Warp to the Desert Colossus and use the magic flower to grab a heart piece normally out of reach. --Shadow Temple-- Head over to Kakariko Village whatever way you like. After the cut scene Sheik will teach you the Nocturne of Shadow; play it. Head down the stairs and onto the platform in the middle. Use Din's Fire to light the torches and open the gate to the temple; enter. Hookshot across the gap, then walk through the face. Use the lens of truth to determine the real skull and then push the thingy around so that it points towards the real skull. Now use flame arrows to light the torches above and on either side of the exit door to make a platform appear. Use the platform to jump over to the exit door and exit. Go down the stairs and kill the beamos. Play the song of storms where he was to summon a big fairy that will replenish your magic. Bomb the middle wall to remove it. Walk through the left wall and enter the door. Fire arrows at all of the big skulltulas to kill them. Avoiding the scythe blades collect all the white rupees (you'll need to hookshot to the raised platform to get one of them). Collecting them all will open a door with a big skulltula behind it. Fire an arrow at it to create a treasure chest with the map in it. Grab the map and head into a niche at the back of the right wall as you enter. You can jump or climb down (it's a false floor), whichever you prefer. There's a hidden treasure chest down here (use the lens of truth to see it) with a key in it. Grab the key and head out of the hole and back through the door. Quickly cross the room, being careful not to get hit by the beamos, running through the opposite wall and exiting through the opposite door. Kill the two gibdos in here to make a treasure chest with a key appear. Grab the key and head back towards the room with the skulls. There is a face in this room that's actually a wall in need of a good bombing. You can see it with the lens of truth if you can't find it. It's the face on the right side of the back wall as you enter. Bomb it, walk through it, and go through the locked door on the other side. Walk through the wall in front of you and follow the right wall. Walk through the wall panel with green eyes that gives you a text message when you walk near. Go through the door there and play the song of sun to freeze the re-dead on the other side. Take them out (with biggoron's you can take out all 4 in 2 hits!) to make a treasure chest with the compass appear. Grab the compass and head back out through the fake wall, continuing to the right. Walk up to another wall with green eyes and play the song of time (you can see the block of time with the lens of truth). Walk through the wall and then through another wall. Watch out for fire! You can kill the fire-spitting eyes, but it's too hard to be worth it. Shoot the middle eye with an arrow (even though its closed) to remove a wall that blocks off the exit. Use the lens of truth or the map/compass to determine which wall it is (the green eyed panel on the right side of the back wall as you enter). Go through the wall and the door behind it. The enemy here is quite easy. Just let a hand capture you, then tap a button until he lets go. Stay away from the hands and wait for the enemy to come to you. When he drops his head, smack him (jump-slash is hard to do here, but regular slash is power enough). He'll back off after two hits then come at you again. Repeat until dead. Claim the hover boots as a reward. Now head all the way back past the mouth-door, down the ramp, past the beamos, and through the locked door. This is a room pretty much full of ramps and beamos. Just make your way through, killing the enemies, and into the next room. Make your way past the little traps and onto the platform with two beamos. Ignore the beamos for now, jump off the platform to the left and you'll land on an invisible platform. Use the lens of truth to determine where the far edge of the platform is and stand at it. Look down to see a frozen eye switch. Shoot a fire arrow at it to form a few platforms another place in the room. Jump onto the next platform, jump off to the left onto another invisible platform and run to the other end (jumping to yet another platform) to go through a door. In this room there is an invisible scythe statue spinning around and causing pain. Run around collecting the white rupees (many of them are fakes), rolling on the ground as often as you can to avoid damage. An easy way to kill the like-like guarding one of the real rupees is to hookshot onto him and just kill him with one hit from biggoron's sword. Collecting all the rupees opens a gated door; go through it. You can open the visible chest on the left for 5 rupees (…joy), but there's also an invisible chest on the right (use the lens of truth if you can't find it) with a key in it. Take your key and head back to the large room. Navigate back through the invisible platforms to the platform with the beamos. Ignore them again because they are bastards and jump across the series of platforms. You can kill the beamos here if you like (he gives you bombs), but don't bother collecting the white rupees unless you're in need of arrows (that's all they'll give you). If you really do want to collect them you'll need to hookshot to the very bottom of the hookshot spot on the wall/ceiling (anywhere else and you won't quite be in line to collect the white rupees as you fall). When you're ready place a bomb next to the grate with a crystal switch behind it to activate the switch and open the grate. Enter. Use the lens of truth to see the giant block in the right wall. Pull it completely out of the wall. Start pushing it towards and underneath the spiked blocks. The blocks will stop when they hit it. Be very careful as you reach the end of the first block. You'll need to push it so that both blocks are hung up on it simultaneously! When you've done that, go around to the other side and begin pulling the block. It will be going in the same direction with the added bonus of you not getting smashed under the first block. When you've pulled it all the way climb on top of it and jump off onto the left platform. Now walk on top of the second spiked block and across to the other platform. Step on the switch here. Now use the first spiked block to cross to the third platform and open the treasure chest with the key. Exit the room the way you came in. Now head back to where the icy looking platforms are and walk a very narrow path to the left. Roll under the guillotine blade and you'll land on an invisible platform. Put on your hover boots and start using your lens of truth to see a moving platform. Run onto the moving platform and, from there, use the hover boots to reach the locked door. Go through it. Watch out for invisible spikes in this room (you will simply walk over them if you are wearing the hover boots!). Play the song of sun and kill the re-dead because they are annoying (and you'll get 5 rupees). Now go about collecting all the white rupees in the room. You'll have to walk into spikes to get one of them. 2 of them will require hookshotting to the exact middle of a hookshot spot on the ceiling. One near the exit requires hookshotting to an invisible hookshot spot on the ceiling (and in this version you can turn on and off the lens of truth while in the hookshot screen!). The ones just off the edges of the platform near the exit are easiest to get by walking off that platform with the hover boots. Also, there is a white rupee on an invisible platform that can only be reached by hookshotting to an invisible hookshot spot on the wall above it. There are 2 rupees that simply require you to hookshot to the spot on the wall behind them. Any remaining rupees that I haven't mentioned should be quite easy to get (as in just walk up and grab it). Collecting them all will open the door on the side and create a series of platforms. If you're like me and you love to kill stalfos even for no purpose or if you're in severe need of arrows then read the next paragraph. Otherwise skip it. Go into the room on the side. Keep your hover boots on for extra fun! There's a stalfos on the bottom that you get to kill (yay!). There's another on the platform above (joygasm!)! Killing them both gets you a treasure chest with arrows, but… let's face it… you killed them just for the sake of killing them :) Back in the rupee room hookshot to one of the two platforms nearest to the entrance door and then walk with the hover boots to the exit door. Exit. Use the iron boots to make your way through this room. You'll also need to hookshot across a pit towards the end. Enter the room straight ahead. Play the song of sun to make a treasure chest appear and freeze the re-dead. Kill the re- dead, collect the gold skulltula if you like, and get the key from the invisible treasure chest on the right side. Now strap on your hover boots and exit the room. When the fan starts to blow run off the platform in the same direction it's blowing (right) to land on a hidden platform. Go through the door there. Play the song of sun and kill the two gibdos in the room. You'll get 5 rupees (…joy). If you need arrows bomb the right front corner and open the invisible treasure chest. If you want a gold skulltula bomb the back left corner. Go through the locked door when you're ready. Grab the block on the left and pull/push it over to the right. Line it up properly with the sunken portion of the ground. Climb on top of it and climb the ladder. If you need a couple hearts turn around and play the scarecrow's song. Otherwise just head onto the ship and play Zelda's Lullaby on the triforce symbol. You'll get to fight two stalfos during the ship ride (joygasm!). Make sure you jump off to the left towards the end of the room (the ship sinks when it gets to the very end). Shoot a fire arrow at the collection of bombs across the gap (aim carefully; it often looks like you hit, but you didn't). Now run across the fallen column and over to the block of time on the right. Play the song of time to get rid of it and fire an arrow at the eye behind it. Hookshot pillars will appear in key places. Hookshot to the one on a platform high up on the wall. Step on a switch on that platform to open the door and then make your way around to and through the door. Use the lens of truth here to determine which walls are real and which aren't. Head into the room on the left (according to the mini-map). Walk behind the rotating skulls and grab the key. Now go back into the previous room and go up (according to the mini- map). If you care to kill a few keese do so. Make sure to use Din's Fire to burn the walls before they actually close on you. Most remaining keese will be lit on fire. They don't hurt much anyway :) Grab the boss key and head all the way back to the ship room. Hookshot across the chasm and go through the door on that side. Use the lens of truth to determine the proper path to the boss door. Hover boots are necessary for large gaps. There is a gold skulltula on the back of one of the platforms if you want him. Now head through the boss door, down a hole, and meet the most retarded boss in the game: Bongo Bongo. It's a giant phantom monster bongo player. Frightening, I know. The scary truth is he really IS frightening! Those bongo-playing hands will slap you into next week if you're not careful. Target one hand and hit it with an arrow, then do the same for the other. Turn on the lens of truth and target the phantom bongo player himself. When he starts to rush you fire an arrow at him. Take out biggoron's sword and quickly run up to him (he always falls just short of a jump-slash) and jump-slash him as many times as you can as quickly as possible (he gets up pretty quick). Repeat until dead. --Gerudo Training Ground-- Now that you've done your bongo-playing ghost busting for the week, warp to Lake Hylia and make your way to the Gerudo Fortress. Talk to the Gerudo in front of the closed gate and pay 10 rupees to enter the training ground. In the first room use Din's Fire between the torches to open one door and then turn around and fire an arrow at the eye above the door to open the other door. Enter the door on the right first. Stab all the enemies in this room to make them go away. Don't forget the innocent looking statue on the ledge – he's an enemy, too. Take your hard earned key and exit out the other door. Put on the hover boots. Either hit the torch on the right with a fire arrow or line up the existing lit torch with the unlit one and fire a regular arrow (it's not that difficult, but a fire arrow is certainly easier). Quickly run to the platform off to the left and then keep going straight ahead to another platform, collecting the white rupees on both platforms. Than go back to the previous platform, turn slightly left and head to the nearest platform with a white rupee on it. Now head to the platform with the torch on it and wait for it to go out. Re-light it with a fire arrow and quickly head for the platform you were just on. Head to the nearest platform with a white rupee on it (off to the right), then off to the white rupee platform on the left and back again. Quickly head to the last platform with a white rupee on it. If you've gotten them all it doesn't matter if you fall or not because you can actually hookshot to the torch near the door (although it doesn't look like it). Exit through the newly opened door. Hookshot the jellyfish in here to death and fire arrow the web. Strap on the iron boots and dive down. The best way to get the white rupees is to place yourself between the rupee and a hookshot target. The side rupees are really easy with that method. For the center rupee just hookshot to one of the targets, then turn around (but don't move!) and hookshot to the target on the opposite wall. A treasure chest with a key in it appears; take your key. Go back to the starting room. Enter the door on the opposite side that you entered. This is another kill-within-the-time- limit room only this one has just an iron knuckle. Use the same tactic you used as little link, only with a longer and more powerful sword you can be more aggressive (you have a pretty long reach). Remember to always keep moving or you'll get bogged down by the sand. Exit through the door to the right of where you came in. Run to the left first and kill an ice creature. Grab the rupee from where it was standing. Now go slightly in front of the rupee that you saw ahead of where you entered. Line yourself up so that when you hookshot to the platform above you'll collect the rupee. Turn right, run down a ramp, then turn left and run up a ramp. Slash the icicles and collect the rupee behind them. Now turn around and run until you get to the edge of a cliff. Go to the far right side of the cliff and slowly inch off of it so you hang down over the edge. Pull yourself back up again and look left. Hookshot up to a hookshot point on the ceiling with a rupee under it to collect that rupee. If the timer is still running quickly go back to where you killed the ice statue and collect another rupee there (I needed to collect that one a second time for some reason… it was strange). The exit door will open; go through it. This is another time limit room. Quickly fire arrows at each of the three big skulltulas. Then take out your sword and happily dispatch the two stalfos (joygasm!). Grab an empty bottle (empty one if you have to) and bottle the blue fire in the corner. While you're over there you might as well push the block forward until it drops. The room over here has no importance other than 50 rupees. If you want the money, though, go inside and kill all the creatures as quickly as you possibly can (not because there's a time limit – because it's fun!), grab the rupees from the chest, and come back out again. Now head over to where Navi keeps turning green and play the song of time. Climb up onto the newly formed block of time and up again into an invisible hole in the wall (an invisible hole… odd how that makes sense). Melt the red ice with the blue flame and go through the door. Jump down to the lower level of this room. Stand still on the platform and fire an arrow into the four eyes on the four sides of the statue (the moving floor automatically takes you to the next side). This will give you a treasure chest with some bombchu and stop the floor from spinning. Hookshot onto the top of the statue and from there hit a hidden crystal switch on the ground. This will open up a very important door (the only other door on the second level), but don't enter it just yet. Remember how you got here for later! Exit the door on the lower level. This room is another time limit room. I recommend killing the flame things first (they're quick and easy anyway) and then turning your attention on the iron knuckle. Afterwards fire an arrow at the barely visible crystal switch above the door that just opened to spawn a treasure chest. Step on a switch embedded into the floor to lower the flames around your new chest. Open the chest for a key, then exit out the newly opened door. Hit the switch with a hammer and then hookshot over to the previously inaccessible door. If you like you can get the treasure chests to the front and right, but then go left. Keep going through doors around the perimeter of the room (when you get a choice between two doors take the one on the right) and you'll eventually start coming to locked doors. Go through the locked doors as well, burning up all 3 keys. Roll-attack the box in the center and then hit the switch underneath with a hammer to create a treasure chest in a room above you. Remember the door I told you to remember? It leads there. Go and claim your useless ice arrows from the treasure chest (…yay). --Spirit Temple 2-- Go fill up on life, magic, potions, and fairies… whatever you think you'll need after Bongo Bongo plus Gerudo Training Ground. Then warp to the Desert Colossus and enter the spirit temple. Immediately hookshot up to the next room and push the block in that room until it falls. You should recognize this room! Exit out into the main room with the statue. Head through the door on your left to get the key that you couldn't quite get as a child. Hit the crystal switch, jump down and exit the room. Hit the switch here with the hammer to create a treasure chest that you can only get as a kid (d'oh!). You should probably go and get it now, it's a key and there's no better time…. When you're done wasting your time getting a key head back into the main room and into the door on the right (as you enter) on the top floor. You will need to use the hookshot to get over there, but there are multiple things you can hookshot to. You can play the scarecrow's song at the bottom and hookshot onto Pierre, you can hookshot onto the torch on the mid-level or you can hookshot to the hand! :) Once you get through the door look up at the ceiling and hookshot to the hookshot point to fly over the flames. Exit into the next room. There will be 4 beamos. Kill them all because they are bastards. That will also create a treasure chest with arrows in it. Now go to the block of time sitting on a platform and play the song of time to remove it, revealing a switch. You'll notice it's migrated across the room. We don't want it across the room either so go over there and play the song of time. Actually, we did want it over there. Play the song of time again. This time it will appear with a crate on top of it. Pick up the crate and bring it across the room to set on the switch, and then exit the door that opens. Kill the dinolfos in this room because they are pathetic. Then open the treasure chest and immediately back flip out of the way! After it's done spewing cold target it with Navi (you can) and hit it with your sword to open the door. Go through the door. Kill the invisible hand (and resulting handlings) in the next room and then go through the door. Kill the iron knuckle in this room and then go through the door. Grab the mirror shield, equip it, and head back to the room with the dinolfos. Kill the dinolfos because they are pathetic. Walk over to the block of time and play the song of time to move it. Put away your sword and step into the beam of light. Use your shield to reflect the light at the face to open the door. Walk up to the block of time and play the song of time to move it back. Go through the door, kill the gibdo, and grab the boss key. Head back to the room where you played the song of time three times. Go through the locked door there (you should still have the key you had to go back in time to get). It helps to shoot the keese in this room before you try and collect the white rupees. You can simply climb the walls to get the first two or three rupees. The easiest way to get the rest is actually to hookshot to a stationary wall (you can't hookshot the moving ones) and drop down onto them. For one of them you'll need to actually drop off the left side of the stationary wall instead of trying to get over it and hitting the A Button to drop. Collecting them all will open the door and you can hookshot to the top of the entire mess to get out. In the next room simply play Zelda's Lullaby on the triforce symbol to open a door. Go through the door that opens. Break a crate in the lower left (according to the mini-map) of the room and hit the switch underneath with a hammer. Go through the door that opens. Kill all enemies in the three rooms (especially the dinalfos because it is pathetic) and then head back to the first room. Use the mirror shield to reflect light onto the sun above the entrance to the next room. Then run and push the second mirror clockwise once. There is an invisible treasure chest on the floor between this mirror and the bars in this room. It contains a key if you want it (you only need it for skulltulas). Now push the first mirror clockwise twice. You have a key now. If you're interested in 2 gold skulltulas take it to the locked door you passed on the way here. There is an iron knuckle inside. Irritate it and let it break the stone chairs on the left and back walls to get your skulltulas. Once the chairs are broken the iron knuckle can safely die. Head back into the room with the giant mirror. Reflect its light onto the nearby sun and the platform will head down into the main room with the statue. Wait for the hand to come down, avoid it, and kill it. Then put away your sword and reflect light from the shield at the face of the statue. Keep doing so until the face breaks apart revealing a grate. The next several paragraphs are all optional. The only thing left besides the boss is a bunch of gold skulltulas and rupees. Look for a single-sentence paragraph to end all the optional stuff. Now head back into the main room (with the giant statue). Use fire arrows to light all three torches on pedestals (it helps to light the side two while standing in the middle and then run off quickly to light the middle one). This will open a door that you want to enter now. In this room wait for the hand to drop down, then kill it. Then kill the dual stalfos (joygasm!). Now use the mirror shield to reflect light onto a sun. It is the wrong sun so it will spawn a hand; kill it. Reflect light onto a second sun. It is also wrong and will spawn a hand; kill it. Reflect light onto the third sun. It is the wrong sun and will spawn a hand; kill it. The gate at the far side of the room will now open! Jump through it. Walk down the hallway and through the door. If you want 50 rupees and a gold skulltula follow the rest of this paragraph; otherwise skip it. Enter the door on your right. There is a gold skulltula on the ceiling that you can kill and collect with the hookshot. Jump down into the pit and start killing thingies (the sword spinny thing really helps here). After you've killed enough of them a giant one will appear; kill it to create a treasure chest. Hookshot over to the chest and open it for 50 rupees. Now exit the room. Collect the white rupees in the room then hit the boulder in the center with the hammer. Hit the switch underneath it with a hammer and then quickly run through the hall where the water pillar has receded, collecting the white rupee inside along the way. Collect the white rupees on either side of the stairs to make a treasure chest with a key appear. Get the key and make your way all the way around back to the other side of the water pillar (if you don't remember, it's through the door on the right side of the main statue room as you enter). Now go left through the locked door. Hit the switch in this room with the hammer. Enter the door that opened and play the song of time. Enter the door that opens and play Epona's Song. Enter the door that opens and play the Song of Sun. Enter the door that opens and play the Song of Storms. Enter the door that opens and play Zelda's Lullaby. Wasn't that fun? Take the new exit. In this room are a ton of big skulltulas (including one invisible one) and a gold skulltula on the wall. If you want to kill all the big skulltulas the hookshot is the way to go. The same goes for the gold skulltula, really. The treasure chest is guarded by an invisible big skulltula and contains 50 rupees. Now it's time to do the required parts of the temple! From the main room with the statue you can go halfway up a flight of stairs and, from there, grapple to one of the chains holding the suspended platform. If you do it right you'll land on the platform. From there grapple to the grate where the statue's face used to be. The grate will lift up when you get there allowing you to go through the boss door on the other side. Kill the iron knuckle in this next room and then watch a cut scene. Head into the boss room to fight Twinrova. These witches fight in two major stages. In the first stage they will take turns casting at you. Don't target them, just face the one that's casting and hold out your shield. When they blast at you use your shield to try and aim the blast into the other one. Repeat this until they enter their second stage. In their second stage they will cast powerful fire and ice spells at you. Absorb three of the same type of spell in a row (dodging the other if they cast it). When this happens your shield will shoot out that element so take aim and hit them with it. Quickly take out your sword, run off the edge of the platform in their direction and jump-slash mid-air to hit them as you land. Hit them as many more times as you can until they get back up and start casting spells at you again. Repeat until dead. --Ganon's Castle-- Warp to the temple of time. After the cut scene head towards Ganon's Castle. Approach the castle and watch another cut scene, then enter the castle. Simply kill all the enemies (including the statues) in the first room to succeed. -Spirit Barrier- Now, as for the rest of the castle, I like to start with spirit so I can get the golden gauntlets as soon as possible. Enter the spirit (orange) door and kill all the enemies. Hit the eye switch above the door you entered through with an arrow to create an iron knuckle. Piss off the iron knuckle and lure it to smash the stone chairs in the middle of the room revealing a switch. Kill the iron knuckle and then hit the switch with a hammer to open the door. Kill the skull in this room. The chest contains bombchu so if you're full don't get it yet. You can bombchu directly towards the crystal switch if you like, but it's easier to throw it in the opposite direction so it has less distance to travel before it gets to the crystal switch. When it's activated the door will open. Kill more enemies and then use the fire arrow on a web on the ceiling to burn a hole and let some light in. Reflect light onto the sun on the direct right of the door to get the golden gauntlets. Reflect light onto the third sun to the left of the door to get a key. Reflect light onto the medallion above the door to open the door. Shoot the thingy with the light arrow to finish. Defensive Upgrade: Exit Ganon's Castle and head to the left. Walk all the way down the path and use the golden gauntlets to lift the monolithic black rock out of the way. Head inside to see a fruity fairy fountain that will double your defense. -Forest Barrier- Enter the forest (green) door. Kill the two stalfos (joygasm!) and hookshot to the torch above the door. When the fan is not running (or with the iron boots on) walk over to the key and take it. Go into the next room. Put on the hover boots and wait for the fan on the left to start blowing. Walk in front of it and towards the platform along the left wall with a beamos on it. The fan will blow you onto the platform. Take out a bomb and set it down. It will hurt you when it blows up as well as activate the statue monster. Slash the statue monster and it will hurt you when it blows up. Shoot a fire arrow at the frozen eye switch behind the fan on the left side of the back wall to activate a treasure chest with bombs in it. Open it if you like. Now kill the beamos on the lower platform by tossing bombs at it (it's possible, but easier without hover boots on). There is an empty platform roughly between the one you are on and one with a beamos on it; jump to it. Toss bombs at the nearby beamos to destroy them. Turn towards the entrance of the room and fire an arrow at an eye switch behind the fan on your current left. Now jump your way over to the exit door and kill the beamos on the right. Wait for the fan to stop blowing, then jump on that platform and put on the iron boots. Face the entrance and play the song of time twice to drop the statue onto the switch. Exit the room and fire a light arrow through the thingy. -Water Barrier- Kill the enemies in this room, including the long hand. Behind the long hand is a column in the wall; strike it with your sword. Quickly bottle the blue flame in the center of the room. The other red ice in this room covers a treasure chest with rupees, a recovery heart, and absolutely nothing so only melt them if you're interested. Melt the ice in front of the exit. Make sure to bottle more blue fire and go into the next room (you should have 2 keys, it's okay to use one). Kill the keese in here (one fire, one ice, one invisible on an ice nub on the ground). Now go about collecting the white rupees. Some you just walk up to. One is suspended over the corner of a pit and you need to jump across that corner (one edge to the other) to get it. One is in the air between the ice blocks and you need to climb up onto one block and jump to the other block to get it. One is in a pit in the middle of the room (not a corner!) When you've collected as many as you can start pushing the blocks. Forward will be towards the exit, backward towards the entrance, left towards the niche in the left wall and right towards the right as you came in. 1 is the one most left when you came in and 2 is the other one. Push 2 right, then backward into the hole. Push 1 right, making it slide over 2, then forward, then left into the niche. Climb up onto 1 and use blue flame to melt the red ice on the last white rupee. Now exit the room to get more blue fire (and to reset the blocks). When you come back simply push 2 forward (or right, then forward if you prefer), climb on top of it, melt the red ice, and exit. Shoot the thingy with a light arrow to proceed. -Shadow Barrier- Head through the shadow (purple) door. Kill the enemy in front of you (the bow & arrow works best), and then shoot a fire arrow to light the bomb on the platform on the right. That will make a treasure chest appear on the platform on the left that you can hookshot to. Open the treasure chest for some arrows. Put on your hover boots and use your lens of truth to make your way onto an invisible moving platform (time it so you start to move when it starts to move towards you). Follow the right edge of the platform and wait near the corner until you pick up the floating white rupee. Now you'll try and get the white rupee near the bomb you lit in the beginning. It's not all that hard to time once you get used to it, but with the poor traction of the hover boots aim might be a problem. After you get that rupee head back onto the invisible platform (once again, timing). Make your way onto the next large platform. Kill the beamos for a white rupee and then look on the ground for a mostly sunken torch. Light it with a fire arrow to create a platform. Jump onto the platform, turn around, and hit the eye switch below with an arrow to create a treasure chest. Now face forward again and target the left beamos. Toss a bomb at it. The resulting explosion should kill both beamos. Jump onto the platform and open the treasure chest for a key. Look left and use the lens of truth to see a narrow path. Navigate the path until you can target the beamos, then target it and throw a bomb at it. Keep going the rest of the way to get a white rupee. Go back to the previous platform (you should be able to use the hookshot on the treasure chest). Now look for another hidden, narrow path with the lens of truth. Walk along it carefully and, when you get to the break, time it carefully so that the guillotine doesn't hit you and roll off the edge (rolling should automatically make you jump regardless of speed). Hopefully you'll pick up the white rupee in the air. The door over here should open now, so head on through and shoot a light arrow through the thingy. -Fire Barrier- I think if I weren't censoring myself this entire section would be one giant vulgarity. Put on your Goron Tunic and head for the fire (red) door. Jump onto the moving platform and, from there, onto the right of the two platforms that shake and fall when stepped on. Quickly jump to the forward right platform and it will rise up. Move towards the forward side of that block and back flip at its peak to collect the white rupee (it takes practice to not fall off – if you're having trouble put on the hover boots before flipping). Now time it so you can jump from this rising platform to the moving platform further forward (if you like hover boots can be used here, too). When the moving platform moves far enough forward toss a bomb at the beamos. Wait for it to go off and for the platform to come near again and then toss another. Finally, the third time you're in reach, you can jump to the platform. Grab the giant block here and then collect the white rupee underneath. Wait for the moving platform you came in on to come back again and jump to it. Then immediately jump to the platform currently straight ahead and quickly jump to the next one. This is a rising platform as well. Using proper timing, aiming, luck, and cursing make your way to the oddly shaped island with the hookshot pillar on it. You can, of course, simply hookshot there. Collect the rupee on that island and then jump to a moving platform that will be to your left as you face the nearest wall. Collect the white rupee it takes you to and then jump onto the nearest platform. Kill the two flame slugs and grab the giant block here. Now hookshot onto the pillar (make sure it's high enough so you grab on top) and make your way to the rising platform near here. It may not be best to jump straight there from the hookshot pillar, but do what you like. I personally go to the part of the island where I collected the rupee, jump off onto the sinking platform to the right and then jump to the rising platform from there. Now make a very tricky jump from this rising platform to the white rupee on top of the block you just threw. If you manage to succeed you'll be awarded with an open door and a hookshot pillar to the exit. Hookshot over there and exit. -Light Barrier- Kill all the enemies in this room and exit. If you want a recovery heart play Zelda's Lullaby on the triforce symbol to create a treasure chest with one in it. Otherwise, just use one of your keys to go through the locked door. Target the beamos and wait for the boulder to pass, then run close and toss a bomb at it. Hookshot up to where it was via the hookshot point on the ceiling. There are recovery hearts on either side if you want them. Go through the locked door with your last key. Strike the torch on your right with your sword and walk through the middle of the back wall. Fire a light arrow through the thingy. -The Rest Of It- Pretty much just make your way up through the tower rooms, killing the enemies along the way. Make sure you kill all the enemies in every room to open the exit door and pick up the boss key when you pass by it. It's not a long or difficult tower. At the top you'll fight Ganondorf. When the fight starts just run to a wall. Try not to stay in a corner. He'll break some floor tiles and then start firing magic at you. Bounce the magic back with your sword (like you did with phantom ganon) until it hits him. When it does quickly nock a light arrow and shoot it at him. This will stun him and he'll fall to the ground. Draw your sword, jump off the platform towards him and hit the B Button to jump-slash mid-air. Jump-slash him again when you land. You can try and get more jump-slashes off, but at this point its best to wait a moment to allow Link the chance to turn around to what he's targeting and then slash him once or twice normally. Jump back towards the wall and repeat the process as many times as it takes to kill him. Make sure you jump back quickly or he'll destroy more floor tiles. I only needed to stun him twice, but I'm pretty good with biggoron's :) If you don't kill Ganondorf fast enough he'll start using a second spell, alternating with his "bat" magic. I think it's easier to just avoid this attack, but you can bat it back with the strategy mentioned below. If you like you can try to hit him with a light arrow while he's charging it and that will stun him just like any other time a light arrow successfully hits. Aim fast, though, because the magic attack really hurts. If you don't like avoiding his magic attack you can hold the B Button to charge your sword. If you release it at the proper time you actually can bat the attack back at him, and then follow through by hitting him with a light arrow to stun him, etc. After the cut scene simply "follow" Zelda out of the tower – she's quite slow so you should pass her up frequently. You'll have to wait for her to open the barred doors so you can get out, though. Eventually she'll get trapped in some flames; quickly kill the two stalfos (joygasm!) to release her. Watch the cut scene at the bottom. Now you'll fight Ganon. Re-equip Biggoron's sword (it got unequipped… bastard!) and roll between Ganon's legs. Turn around, target his tail, and jump-slash as quickly as possible. You can also stun him by hitting him in the face with a light arrow if that's preferable to you. He has a hell of a lot more hit points in Master Quest than he does normally so you're in for a surprisingly long battle. When you get the master sword you absolutely have to use it to finish him off. It shouldn't take too many more hits now (4-6). Unfortunately, Biggoron's is useless at this point. Goodbye my beloved sword, you've served me well! After that… he's dead. It's over. End of walkthrough! --Credits-- I could go through the whole thanking the company that made it and their families and all that, but this is actually the credits of the people that wrote/helped with the walkthrough itself.
